Questions and help installing a viper remote start security system

Hi everyone I just bought a viper remote start:

And have a few questions.
I like how I can leave my lights on auto and they will go off when I hit lock on the fob. Anyway I can make it do this on the viper?
Basically can I just wore the viper to signal the factory unit the same commands that it would get from hitting lock on the factory fob?

Also it has a a trunk release plus four Aux outputs. Can I make the trunk release pulse my back glass down and make another of the outputs pulse my back glass up just like I would hit the down button and the up button and it would auto roll up down.

I am also wondering if for the aux outputs how does it work? Does it send 12v out or what? Like could that switch a relay? I want to make it switch a. Relay that would turn on my LED light bars while I'm camping so I can see around and then just turn them back off without having to go get in the truck and do it. Could I make that work?

Take it to a car alarm shop and ask them questions/have them install it.

I haven't the slightest when it comes to wiring alarms and starter systems

Most vendors I've seen offer free installation (P.C. Richard & Son, Best Buy, etc.). Too many stories of alarms going off by themselves or locking owners out of their vehicle.

What you are looking for is a CANBUS integration unit...I would go with either a DB-ALL or FL-CAN. Look up each one and the respective firmware for your particular 4runner and get the one that has all necessary integration features you want. These are great little devices that take the pain out of installing aftermarket alarms.

The integration module should be able to arm/disarm your factory alarm in sync with the Viper fob, please check the specific firmware and make sure the feature is listed.

You can hook the trunk and other AUX outputs to whatever you want, but you might need relays to accomplish that on the tailgate window, I am not familiar with the 4th wiring sorry.

The AUX outputs send out a low current ground signal, only enough to drive a relay (don't try to power stuff off of it). Additionally, you can program each AUX output to act differently to key press, such as momentary, timed, latched on/off, etc. You should read the manual that comes with the alarm it tells you exactly what you can program them to do, but in short, yes it can turn your LED bars on and off with a relay no problem.

I wanted a alarm with remote start as well. Everyone of them I found said you void the warranty unless professionally installed.

Remote start would be very handy here where it gets 100+ in the summer and Below Zero in the winter.

As far as the lights going off when hitting lock twice that's not necessarily a factory alarm thing is it? Or is it? Also same with turning the dome lights on and off. I really like the way they work now I don't want the viper to control how that fade in and out I want whatever system does it now to keep doing it

I looked into those bypass unit things you talked about and for a 2003 4runner the only thing I'll be able to do with it is bypass my transponder.

If the module only does the transponder bypass you will need to find out the factory arm and disarm wires and manually connect those outputs to the viper module then. As far as if it will turn off the lights when you arm and if it will fade in and out the dome light I am not sure.

On my 5th gen it does both things as you have described (when arming and disarming with my aftermarket alarm FOB), but it's a completely different generation 4runner and I used the canbus interface module, so take this with a grain of salt.

The headlights should go off by themselves after a minute or so, it won't work like the factory remote where you can just lock it twice and they go off right away, unless you find some way to tap into the factory alarm.

I found this post about setting up the aux buttons to do the rear windows, also, check in your manual for the alarm, but most times you can set it up so it'll do the aux when you press and hold lock or unlock, so you could press and hold lock and it would lock the doors then a couple seconds later roll up the rear window

I ended up just canceling my order because I went to 2 mobile electronics stores here in town and Best Buy and none of them will help me install it without buying the system from them. So I will probably just wait a while because these systems get pricy$$$$.
