Questions for those who have Alpine IVA-W200

I am planning to upgrade my JBL Synthesis system and highly considering the Alpine IVA-W200. I just have the following questions:

Can you rate the songs in the iPod using this head unit? I have all the songs from my CD's in my Ipod and been rating those songs as I listen so I know which to keep and which to delete.

Can the HU play the playlists in your iPod? I heard somewhere that the unit can't search/play by genre.

I have had this unit in my truck for almost a year now, it's fantastic. To answer your questions...

No, you can't rate the songs using the head unit. At least not that I know of, and I'm pretty familiar with it.

Yes, you can play your saved playlists. You heard correctly though, you cannot search or play by genre, it is one of the (very few) flaws of the unit.

Overall, the iPod interface is 2nd to none. There are a few minor flaws, most of which we just covered. Other than that, it works beautifully. There is almost no lag time when selecting songs and I have well over 4,000 on mine. I think you'll be quite pleased, especially if you do most of your listening to music on an iPod.

One thing you may want to consider. The W205 comes out in a month or two (it's already listed on Crutchfield's website). I don't know the specs but they may have corrected one or both of the things listed above, you'll have to look into it further. I do know that the W205 docks the new Blackbird directly into the unit itself, which is a huge plus over the W200. Food for thought.

Funny I was looking into that very same stereo. I am all about the Alpine baby!! I want to use this as my DVD source and put some monitors in the headrests, and possibly upgrade to some Infinity components and an Infinity Basslink.

How well of a video source does the W200-205 make for running a pair of 7 or 9 inch monitors for the kids viewing?
