Quick Andy-mod question

im about to do this mod...... and i was wondering if you can lock the center diff while this on on? or would you need to?.... im alittle confused on it..

thought i would put this in here for anyone who did know what the andy mod was maybe make this a sticky

Yes, you can still lock your CD w/ the switch installed.

BTW, why do that version, when you can do the AndyMod 2.0 . I just posted it on YT:

LOL, I just posted the updated version last night, so you didn't miss it by much. Just glad I saw your post when I did.

This latest version retains ABS function when vsc and trac are disabled. If you don't care about ABS, do the first version of the AndyMod as it disables vsc,trac and abs.

I know for a fact it works on '01-'02 4Runners. Don't know about 4th gens though...

so have you done this mod? i was reading and is the terminal i need to look for right under the dash i thought i read somthing about the ecu being some somewhere in the glove box..

how long did this take? what supplies do i need?

Did the mod this weekend. Took about 10mins.

Engine ECU is behind the glove box. Skid Control (VSC) ECU is right above the driver side kick panel.


Parts:
- One On/Off rocker switch. I used Toyota part# PT297-89013sw. It's about $10.00 from Toyota
- A few feet of 18 gauge (stranded) automotive wire. This is for two lengths between the vsc ecu and rocker switch
- 2 female spade connectors to connect the pair of wires to the rocker switch
- 2 female and 2 male spade connectors to be used at the vsc ecu wire connections. (Or you may choose to use a soldering gun to secure these connections instead. I've never had good results w/ barrel connectors, therefore I would not recommend using them here)
- Electrical tape
- Heat shrink tubing (optional)
- Zip ties (optional)
-TRAC ON/OFF Decal (optional)

Tools Needed:
Wire cutters
Wire stripper/crimper
Soldering gun (optional)

ok im still confused there is only a diagram for the VSC terminal.. but not one for the ECU.

lol, guess I should have been more clear. Your 4Runner has both an ECM (Electronic Control Module) for the vehicle itself and a separate ECU (Electronic Control Unit) for the VSC System. Yes the Engine ECM is behind the glove box, but you're not tapping any wires into it...thus don't worry about it. (Hence why there's no photo of the vehicle ecm.)

You should only be concerned about the ECU for the VSC System...which is under the dash, near and above the driver side kick panel (lay on your side on the floor board and you'll see it mounted vertical). This is where the connection is made.
