Quick Driving Quest.

hey guys, for about a month now my 4runner has been doing this thing where if i accelerate a little and let go the gas, it'll kinda sputter (i don't know if sputter is the right word) and the RPM's will drop a little and jump back up to normal. It kinda feels like it's going to die out but it jumps back up.

through this time, my CEL has been going off and on. i haven't gotten the time to get the error read.

Is this a sign i might need a new alternator?

Please advise to the best of your knowledge as i would like to get pass whatever is happening.

go to autozone and they let you use the obdII for free, but you can't leave with it, it sounds like a fuel filter or maybe fuel pump if the idles are going up and down while driving.

yeah i was going to head down to checkers or have my mechanic do it, but today when i finally wanted to go, guess what....

damn CEL went off. go figure.

i'll wait till the next time

fuel filter would seem logical. is this expensive to replace?

i bet its your MAF.

get the codes pulled even if the light is off.. i believe it stores them

fuel filter = not expensive local auto store should have one, but try and get the codes to make sure.
