Got a quick question: Are all K&N Cold Air Intakes universal for the toyota 3.4L? Found a used one from a tacoma (forgot year 1st gen) for $100 and I want to make sure it will fit. Thanks

deckplate mod and isr mod like 20 dollars and i think it works better

Eh, for me there is too much debate whether those mods work or not, Supra725 has a K&N and I liked it a lot. I just picked up a magnaflow 18" too and I think combined I'll get better performance and mpgs. Besides I can always sell the K&N. OFF TOPIC (I dont want this thread to turn into another deckplate debate)

So, does anyone know the answer to my question?

Should be the same AFAIK, but don't the K&Ns have those filters that need to be oiled, which in turn gets sucked into the MAF and makes the truck run like shit and sometimes ruins the MAF (which is pretty expensive)? The deckplate and ISR give the same benefits without the risk of ruining components for a lot less $$, yes?

stick with what you want, my brother has K&N in his 98 and he's never had issues on MAF being soaked in oil. as to the fitment of tacoma-4runner I think it's model specific.

I dont know about K&N, but I bought an Airraid intake tube off craigslist, the guy I bought it from had it on his tacoma, fits perfect.

that whole oil thing is stupid bullshit. I've had mine for over a year and I've had no problems. I like to clean my MAF pretty frequently, anyway (2 times a year) just to keep it at peak running performance.

It looks better than deckplate and sounds damned sexy IMO.

So if it fits, take it! Check K&N's site and find the one that fits the 3.4 4Runner, if it says Tacoma also, go for it.

Mine was for a Tacoma when I bought it and it bolted right up...

I don't know if it's all BS, there's sure a lot of threads on YT and ttora about people having issues with them so it may be an older design thing or maybe some people over-oil their filters, I dunno. But there's definitely something going on, too many people have reported MAF issues.

Alright got an update on the vehicle the CAI came from. It was a 2002 Tacoma v6 4x4. I checked K&N's site and it says it will fit a 99 4runner but nothing about a 98. Is there that big of a difference in years as to why it won't fit? I found two people selling the CAI, and this guy is selling it for $60. The other one I don't know the year yet but he's selling it for 100 and is giving me a ac delco maf.
