Quick led mod

I got annoyed at the fact that while traveling on the freeway late at night I can never find anything in my center console without turning on the map lights etc (which are bright now that I replaced them with LEDS) So I made a quick plug in LED mod.
It works when the lights are on and uses a pin switch to activate when the lid is opened.
I used the coin holder to make the base for the light and it works great Here are a couple of pics

Great idea about using the coin holder! I've been thinking about doing the same thing to mine for about a month now. Just haven't been able to think of a good place to put the switch & bulb.

Nice! where did you get the pin switch (p/n?)

I used Red LED's when I replaced my map lights and they really help when driving at night and having to look for things, but this is a great idea!

where did you tap into for power?

I tapped into the power under the center console If I remember right I tapped into the leads that light the shifter (closest to the storage box) That way it only comes on when the lights are on. It uses so little current that it is not an issue for the circuit.

The switch comes from Radio shack.

+1 on good idea for the coin holder; I kept knocking mine out accidentally trying to dig around looking for stuff (compartments might have been nice, Toyota...) so I took it out. Good thinking!
