Quick Question: Is the USB 2.0/3mm aux also a place for a switch

Hey all. I am revamping my cellphone mount setup here soon and I wanted to clean up the dash and get rid of my iphone charging cable just draping across everything. It appears to me that the USB hookup and 3mm audio in module is also a place for am OEM sized 5th gen switch, is that true?

I am planning to remove that USB panel, replace it with my air compressor switch and then just run the USB from inside the dash plugged into my iphone lightning cable, up into upper dash and through a small hole right by my new ram mount (which also requires a hole in the dash fascia).

Just curious if you can pop a switch in there before I get my hopes too far up and start ripping into it all next week.

You can move that into the glove box or just leave it floating anywhere inside. So simple answer is it does not have to be there.

It fits into the same slot that is in the glove box as mentioned above. You could do a test fit into that slot to check. I'm not sure if the original USB spot would accommodate a switch or not.

ah cool, that is helpful. I'll go check.

---its for sure the same size cut out. I'm pretty sure it'll work. I didn't have a small flat-head handy to pull the blank plate and pop it in, don't want to either as it might be hard to remove the switch without pulling the glovebox innards. Thanks !

It does accept a switch! I've already moved the USB into the glove box and put a AirOnBoard switch in its place.
