QUICK QUESTION! newbie here! RE: MOONROOF/SUNROOF BUTTON

hey everybody, new guy on the board here. just bought my 2011 SR5 this past friday then drove it vegas the day after! excellent ride! it took the 40MPH winds through BAKER pretty well!

to get to the point... do you guys know whether or not the moonroof/sunroof buttons SLIDE /TILT are supposed to be illuminated when the headlights are triggered?

No, and it drove Antman crazy to the point that he took his whole upper console apart and buried a miniature LED in there to illuminate them.
 
Damn you Nashman, for making me post another one of my crappy pics! Here's a teaser:

It takes voodoo to get that LED in there. The ENTIRE OH console needs to come apart. The black part gets separated from the base, the circuit board comes out, all the clear lenses, the diffuser behind them, and both sunroof switches. Then you get to drill and cut into a perfectly good part (but I don't mind that too much :) ). It is a VERY TIGHT area in which this mounts. This pic was taken in bright sunlight from the windshield (yeah, me leaning way over the dash setting off the hazards, windshield wipers, radio on, off, on, off, on, off- the things I do for you guys...)
At night the result is a gentle illumination of the switch area in the exact dash color. There is no glare from the LED anywhere else. Did I get lucky? Have to see if I can do it twice- look for the post...

Did I mention it looks really REALLY cool @ night???:)

Seriously? You couldn't tell the difference by feel and location? Or will you not be satisfied until the interior looks like one of those bad fiber-optic lamps from the 90's.

Don't be silly, SeattleMike. This is a serious forum and we do serious mods.

Besides, all of our LEDs are red and orange to match the dash and stuff.

Seriously. You need to pay attention here, Mike! How many posts have described- in detail- my unmanicured nails, and man-hands. I can't feel S**t with my fingers, and I have a bad sense of direction too. You are jealous because your sunroof switches reside in a cold, dark place somewhere overhead. Admit it. I won't gloat.....
 
can’t start a thread as i’m still new to the forums…

i don’t have a moon/sunroof but was wondering if there’s something else that could be slotted into the port of the switch? is it already wired? same with the garage buttons. i don’t have a garage and it’d be cool to instead wire those buttons up as exterior lights or something…
