Quick question regarding third-gen front bumper...

I have a 2001 model.

Does anyone know if there is a reason why the bumper has effectively been moved forward about four inches on this year (or maybe that was a 2000 or even 1999 "improvement" - I don't know when it changed). I really like the more-integrated look of the bumpers just prior to their changing style and have to think that approach angles suffered as a result of the extra-long schnoz job.

Just curious. And the obvious advantage is that there's more to crunch and crush (god forbidding) before you start pressing into the engine bay, but that seems too obvious...

Bumper changed in 1999. I agree with you...the older one looks slightly better. I think that the redesign was mainly for a more aggressive look. I have not heard of anything about this being a safety feature.
