quick rear spacer install help

If you put the spacer on top of the bump stop/coil, will it work? This is pulled from the Toytec install instructions for their rear spacer. This is contrary to what the Daystar guide says.
6. Remove the stock coils springs and separate the spring from the spring isolator/ bump stop. NOTE: you may need to pry with a pry bar
to get the springs out. Remove the coil spring isolator/bump stop.
7. Install the new spring spacer onto the top of the spring isolator/bump stop then onto the frame. Note: The spacer should be mounted in
the sub frame with the spring isolator/bump stop on the bottom. Then install the spring where the spring is in between the spring
isolator/bump stop and the axle. The use of small coil spring compressor will help with the installation or you may have to pry the spring back
in using a pry bar. The order of install progressively from top to bottom should be spacer, bumpstop/spring isolator, spring, and then the
spring seat on the axle.

i read this as well. but this just sounds sketchy, its nothing but flat rubber rubbing against flat rubber..i feel like the whole spring could slide off to one side

Maybe my memory is failing me. It was after midnight when we finished the spacer install on the rear of another members 4runner. I've read it both ways on the Daystar instructions depending on which one you look at. However, TT says the spacer goes on top. This Daystar guide has several pics and shows the same thing. So, try installing the spacer on the top.

If it is the 1.5 daystar I installed the coil in the groove of the spacer and didn't put the bumpstop back in. Had no problems yet The cone didn't look right with the spacer.

hmm so your sayin I shoud ditch the bumpstops? any negative side effects to that? I feel like that bumpstop is holding everything together down there

If your suspension bottoms out without the bumpstop you're gonna wish you left the bumpstops in. It will probably be difficult to bottom out with the extra height from the spacer, but basically leaving it out you dont have that extra rubber to limit the suspension from bottoming out.

If this is the Daystar spacer then the 1st picture is clearly wrong. There should be a recessed groove or pocket for the top of your spring to sit in as a couple of folks have mentioned. That picture just looks like it's sitting on a flat surface because you can see the flat face of the coil as well as the start of the coil.

So is there a groove in your spacer? My bump stop went into my spacer no problem. Whether or not it would actually do anything is debatable. An easy way to answer that question is measure the cone height minus the spacer height. Then measure all of your gaps between your coils (and add them up). If measurement one is less than measurement 2, then the bump stop really isn't doing anything. Hope that made sense.

Also, will the bump stop fit in the spacer by itself from either side? Might tell you whether or not you're installing it upside down. Hope that helps.

Guess it's a different spacer than I had. I see what you're talking about. Instead of a u-groove, there is a just a boss that protrudes downward into the coil.

Not sure about your spacers, but the ones I used the bumpstop went into the coil spring first and then the spacer went on top of the bumpstop with the groove of the spacer fitting inside the bumpstop. It was this way with both OME spacers and Cornfed spacers.

I bought a rear Daystar 1.5" spacer and installed it. There was no hole for that cone bumpstop to go in, and the groove was only big enough to squeeze the actual coil into, so I tossed that cone thingy. Lol, hope I didn't screw that up, but seemed like the thing to do. Now my only thought is, damn I could've had more lift!!

so i installed the rancho quick lifts for the fronts of my truck about 18months ago. its said they give upto 1.75'' lift, so it balanced out the factory rake, but made my nose/front end a lil too high, so i purchased the daystar 1.5'' rear lifts to balance the rear., but looking at the truck now, it appears the front end has settled, and the truck is even now...thus am confused if i should go ahead with the rear lifts installation. what do you guys think, from the picture, should i install or not?

i have billies 5100 at the rear, installed about 2years ago.

Ass looks to be 1" higher now. If you put that spacer in you will be Wayyyyyy ass high! You'd need higher lift on front to even it out.

That 1.5" spacer is what usually sells with the QuickLift and will give you the stock'ish front rake.
If you tow or haul anything the wheeler's T12 rear coils are nice +12% spring rate/+2"(1 3/4"actual) height. I have the Sway-A-Way, same thing I guess just red color. I usually have gear at 100lbs+ in the back of mine so its nice.
The T12 (SW) plus the coil isolator made mine too tall.
I ended up cutting a piece of 1/4" UHMW plastic into a round/disc shape and it sits on top of the coil. No isolator/bump stop. Could use any size you want.
I pulled the 1/4" spacers out and looked at them after 20k miles and they look good.
