Lol, good one! You didn't mention the "hillybilly" made outrageous price quotes earlier and my comment was about the two you did say he made which were right on point. But $200 a slider? :loco: Holy $hit man, he musta really been pulling hard on his meth pipe that day :hillbilly:

Do a Google search and see that 80 grit is recommended all day long on bare metal prep.

Why would you be worried about using a fine grit sand paper when your going to bedline the thing anyway? I wouldn't.

I believe you, trust me, I have no clue about welding or how to make it look cleaner. Im actually doing a trade school so I can weld my own d@mn self. And haha on the last question, I cant really answer it. I guess to guarantee adhesion, more than making it look polished.
 
I would have to agree with the post above that said to buy a welder on CL and weld them on yourself.

Too bad you are not close by me other wise i can sand blast and powdercoat them for you for like 100 bucks.

Acetone would be better in my opinion. Also I recently read that mixing acetone and tranny fluid is a great penetrate for removing rusty bolts. Then you will have two uses for the acetone you buy. I haven't tried it as of yet but will be soon.

Okay, cool. I already have acetone so that works out better, and i think i have a bottle of tranny fluid. How about the sandpaper sheets, they work out? I buy all of my stuff online and use a 20-40% off coupon and go pick it up at my local auto store :D
 
x3 either go grab a welder if you can afford one, or use your friends. I'm just learning to weld right now on a friends welder. Just practice some beads on some scrap metal til you feel confident. It's kind of like tattooing (if you've ever used a tattoo gun before lol) but I surprised myself on my welds, they actually came out pretty nice. If they get all boogery you can always just grind em down and make em pretty. Or regardless ask your friend of a friend if you can cruise by and practice a little on some scrap. Just throw him a couple bucks for using his gas and wire. It's really fun.

170 Amp MIG/Flux Wire Welder - 22 volts @ 110 amps ???
I will probably need a cart as well. I might just save up and buy a nice setup. But I want my sliders on now! Theyve been sitting in my garage with no paint or anything. Its been too cold lately!

Just saw your edited post - What sucks is the cylinders are around the same price as the welder haha, and you gotta buy the gauge. A smaller cylinder is around $60 to fill too. But hell yeah if you can do it, go for the whole setup that would be sweet!
 
i would not buy a HHF welder, they make a lotta good stuff but a welder is not one of them. you better off buying a whole set up from craigslist, hobart, miller, lincoln, snap on, all those are good brands. and it'd be best to use MIG instead of Flux or arc or tig (takes way too freaking long)
 
Also idk if 4x have the same kinda gusset as TG but if they do i would get new ones or just cut some out from scrap metal, something like this

I never thought of that! Craigslist is perfect.

EDIT: Pick the best one.
1.)Northern Industrial MIG Welder 115v/135amp
2.) Mig 180
3.) Hobart Welder EZ 125
Or none of them..

And yes, my gussets are similar in size to the TG ones.

I'd grab #1. #3 is gasless btw. I don't know much about brands of welders lol but the first one looks good for your application and it comes with a regulator.
