Welder - Miller 175 w/ 20lb bottle complete setup

I have a Northern Tool a little up the road and I have used Hobart equipment in the past. I know they are reputable. I will discuss purchasing this:

From what I understand Hobart is made by miller. It uses aluminum internals instead of copper but I'll be getting a Hobart 130 in a few weeks. The hot Max cart on amazon is probably the best cheap cart.

Beats me lol I know it's a good welder though, a buddy of mine in Tucson had the same one. I think they go for around $800 new w/o the tank and regulator etc.

Oh. My. Gosh.
Everyone is going to laugh at me. I have been sitting on a nest egg the whole time. I work for engineers(mechanical engineering intern) and we have a workshop downstairs. I spoke to my chief engineer and mentioned my predicament. I asked him which welder he thought was sufficient and if he could find me a deal on a nice one.
He said, "Brian, follow me."
He said I can come in anytime I want, "After-hours" and perform anything I needed. He said, "No worries on the gas, that's what its here for."

And guys, I took pictures of my workshop/machine shop:

You can practice on that jeep, welding the doors shut and the hood shut and welding other random stuff together on it hahaha

I am coming in on Saturday, march 9th, to my work with beer and pizza and my chief engineer is going to teach me how to weld. I'm excited! Cheap slider job!
Here are more pictures of the welder. I will post pictures of succession with my truck on Saturday!

Here is one of the left wing workshop/machine shop. We have 2 more in my building. But this one is 1 of 2 of the ground floor machine shops. I need 1st floor cuz my truck cant fit in the freight elevator

Looks like you scored on the shop setup!
I wouldn't spend too much effort on painting those aside from the chemical wipedown prep. I'd just rattlecan primer & paint them. They are meant to take abuse, so with the rattlecan paint you can "touch them up" whenever.
I bought the stubbs sliders which came ready to weld on legs & plates & all. I primed & painted them before welding them on (just masked off the plates and painted those after install.
Be sure to clean the surface of the frame (as in down to bare metal) before you try welding to it.
I'd also recommend lots of practice before you go for it.

[MENTION=59497]sportscarfan[/MENTION]: Yeah. I know. I won't put too much energy into painting but I do want the overall quality to be durable and last me awhile. I think I am going to do the same thing as you did but my legs did not come pre-welded. The slider has already been welded together and then the legs, gussets, and plates are non-welded. I was just going to paint the slider and then sand/grind my frame down to bare metal.

I will also have my chief engineer with me and I've been told he is a great welder. I hope it comes out well. I will post pictures of my weld jobs and you can determine if he and I are decent welders.

Haha, and luck has everything to do with it! I wasn't expecting us to have so much. I didn't even take photos of the three 5' gas tanks full of argon. I think the engineers' shop is ready for me
