Thanks gents. You're right, once you have stepped off the high dive board into the pool of "vehicular modification"....you can never stop. Without going crazy or senile that is. Funny how a maglight holder and changing the color of your clock can somehow hold off the unstoppable urge to spend $1500 on a lift and tires.......
 
Here's the clock now. It's a little dim...but I don't see a way around that since the cover is tinted pretty dark, and you HAVE to use it. The color is good, in real life it matches the red side of the HVAC temp dial. The colors represented in this picture are really inaccurate (phone pic)

wow that's spot on! Yeah mine is a little dim too, sometimes i cant see it during the day, but i don't care haha. Which one did you end up using?
 
What if we bring in the plastic tinted cover on the clock to a plastic shop and see if they can replicate it in a clear form withought the tint? Hmmmmm i think im gonna try
 
zach, i thought of the same thing, the only problem i would see with that is i think your going to be able to see all the guts of the clock, i could be wrong though
 
Oh yea that's true, maybe put some tint or paint the lower portion of it before putting it on? I'm gonna call a local plastic shop :)
 
Seeing the guts of the clock might be kind of cool! If you can actually get an exact replica made in clear, you better have them make like 100. Then just sell them all on eBay or here on the forum.
 
yeah i would be interested in what you can come up with. I could have all those colors work, this could make the clock color thing take off real niccce!
 
I finalized my vision for my truck today. I've been around long enough and seen enough builds that I know no matter I do, it can't really be THAT unique. So, I gave up on worrying about being different.

Here's the mod list, and the first person to tell me who's truck I'm most closely imitating get's an e-cookie. :cheers:

-3" lift (SS lift kit, or piece something together myself)
-16x8 KMC Enduro's
-285/75R16 KM2's
-Schrockworks single hoop front bumper, pc'd black
-remove fender flare strips
-sport scooped hood
-projector headlamps (preferably built by "rickashay")



For me, that is the perfect truck. I don't need armor or a winch, the front bumper is mostly for looks. So no sliders or skids or anything else heavy. No snorkel or on board air, or anything else "off-road" oriented....it's simply not needed. I'd be in hog-heaven if $4000 landed in my lap with a note that said, "for the 4runner only". lol.

Now the trick will be to see how closely I follow that list....or change my mind.
 
Im gonna guess Derek's truck. Based off the Enduros, single hoop bumper, and KM2's..

That or ricashay.

Well that didn't take long. Ha! :)

I love derekabraham's rig. Like, couldn't stop looking at it all day today. I love so many rigs, really my favorite list is as long as my arm. But his resonates with me the most, because if my truck was built just like that, it would be perfect for what I use it for. And I love the look with the color. I think Thundercloud will work just as well as the Dorado Gold when it comes to the overall look of it.

Haha, when I was reading your list earlier all I could think of is Derek's 4runner. I was hoping you knew about his otherwise that would have been really random. It's definitely a great 4runner to borrow ideas from. I really like the Enduro's and KM2's. It's simple, but aggressive. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

I think you've done the most important part of any build, which is to sit down and ask yourself what YOU want out of the truck and how YOU plan to use it. Now you have to stick to it. Don't cave to the pressure when people tell you how great it would look with 35's, or how you need this, or should do that, or it would look better with XX.

I like this plan.

Great list! Like BigFish said, it's really important that you prioritize and customize the truck based on you personal needs and usages. Sounds like an awesome plan, especially the headlights ;)
