Quicksilvr's Build Thread

Just measured real quick, but it was parked on grass, so it's not perfect. From the ground to fender it read 38.5" exactly on both sides. However I think it's taller than that, because the tires sink into the ground. When I measured in the garage right after letting it down onto the ground (before it rolled an inch) it was nearly 40".

A better measurement is this: Hub to fender is 23" on both sides.

I know for a fact that 22" hub to fender is enough to clear 33's (because that's what my old truck was), with a little pinch weld pounding or grinding. So I don't think I needed the spacers. But oh well.

And a question for the Budbuilt people. Can I install a diff drop with my Budbuilt skid? Or will it not clear?

EDIT: Thanks BigFish! I'm just glad I'm actually doing stuff to it, I really want to have it done before winter, because it'll be my primary vehicle this winter.

Yeah! That's looking awesome!

I have a set of the 890's and love them. Had my whole cargo space PACKED recently for a 2 week climbing trip and I had zero sag.

Thanks man!

What's your rear hub to fender measurement look like? It's kind of a hard measurement to get because you have to eyeball the center of the hub with your tape or ruler, but it's the only way to be consistent and not worry about tire size, etc.

My brother is in town and I let him borrow my ride for a bit. I'll get it when he gets back. Hopefully it comes back in one piece. He's been living in NY for the past 11 years, so it's been a while since he's driven!

lol, good luck! Yeah, just let me know whenever. I'm going to try and get some numbers from other's with the 890's too....just to see what the average is in general.

I really like the stance, it looks sick! congrats! looks awesome

Ugh, I hate the stance! lol. To each their own. The front is 1-1.5"s taller than the back, and I want the BACK to be an inch higher than the front. So new rear springs, and then possibly replacing the 1" front spacers with something smaller or just taking them out completely.

Just snagged some lightly used 890's off the for sale forum! Me very happy right now. lol

Plan is to put the 890's in, and see how the truck sits. If it sits perfectly level, I will probably leave the topout spacers in the front, install my diff drop and call it a day.

If the rear is still a little lower than the front, then I'm going to yank the fronts back out and take the spacers off. I assume I'll have to trim the extended studs down for use without the spacers, but that's not a big deal.

No trimming needed for the extended studs. You can run them without the spacers. Looking forward to seeing the 890's on.

Honestly, if you like the height you got with the 1" spacer in the Tundra struts, I'd keep them. I'm running the same Tundra setup, only with a 3/4" Top plate spacer, and 285's, but find I need more room in the fenderwells. I constantly rub going into my driveway, with the wheel turned to driver side, and while going over the small gutter lip at the edge of my driveway. It's nothing crazy, but still......

If I were you, and if your CV Angles are ok, I'd leave the 1" spacer in, and just get a set of 9 wrap LC coils, OR since you already have the 890's, buy some Cornfed spacers for the back and call it a day!

Just my 2 cents......

Well, I have 1.5" rear spacers already (they're on top of my 99 coils currently)...I'd thought about swapping them over onto the 890's. But I'm just worried my rig is going to be REALLY tall. And I wanted to just keep running the factory length rear shocks.....with 890's and spacers, that's probably a bit much. Plus then there is the panhard bar, and worry about tearing up my CV's, since topout spacers can be pretty hard on CV's.

Thanks for the input. We'll see what happens.

The plan has come together. Some new Rough Country rear shocks are en-route from Wheeler's Offroad.

When the springs and shocks arrive, I'm going to take a day and do the following:

-Install new NAPA lower ball joints
-Re clamp the inner CV boots
-Install diff drop
-Change ATF, and replace my Magnafine inline filter
-Install new rear shocks
-Install OME 890's with 1.5" Daystar spacers

Then I'll need to see if the rear trac bar needs lowered, and I'll get a front end alignment. Installing a panhard drop bracket will be easy, because my dad welds. Now just pray that I find a free day to do all this sometime in the next 2 weeks!

Me too. I realized last night, that this lift is going to be super cheap...

TRD Tundra Front coils w/ Bilstein shocks - $100 (used)
OME 890's - $100 (used)
Daystar 1.5" rear spacers - $39.95
Daystar 1" front spacers - $41.83
Rough Country Nitro 9000 rear shocks - $71.90
SS Diff drop - $60
Panhard drop bracket - $50

Total Suspension - $463.68

AND....33" tires: $485-$420 (selling price of old tires) = $65

So for a pretty nice lift and big tires, I've kept the total close to $500!! :guitar3:

Love it when a plan comes together cheaply! Especially since cheap here doesn't = crap.

Shocks and a nice new set of 24 black acorn lug nuts arrived from Wheeler's Offroad today. Yay for new parts. I think I'm more excited about getting this lift done and the little maintenance stuff done than I've been about anything so far.

Where did you find the Tundra fronts for so cheap? I just paid 180 for coils today. :toilet3:

Edit: You don't want to even get me started on what i think about how yours has gone.. :wow2: I just cant wait to get mine up in the air to compare.

P.S. What do you think about your Treadwrights? Are you confident with them and how they perform? What made you decide on them?

:snacker:Keep it up and I do proudly subscribe to this here thread.

I snatched the Tundra setup off the for/sale forum here on t4r.org. You just have to keep an eye out, and jump on the good deals. It helps if you're not in a hurry.

I really don't have much of an opinion on the Treadwrights yet. I've driven a grand total of 28 miles on them, most of that around town. Once I get a bunch more stuff done to the truck, get it aligned and get the tires rebalanced correctly, I'll drive it for a while.

quick, can't wait to see pics. hope yours is a little raked :)

Yeah, me too. It should be, the OME 890's plus 1.5" spacers are decently tall. DeTwizzle has the exact setup, if you want to see how tall it is. I think I'll have close to an inch of rake.
