Quicksilvr's Build Thread

Last night I dropped both the skids, installed my SS diff drop (nice product, btw), took the old factory clamps off the inner CV boots and reclamped them with stainless worm drive's.

Then the plan was to install the rear shocks and springs, but I have lost my Gorilla locking lug key. And the rear locking lugs wouldn't come off, no matter what we did. Fought with it for over an hour before giving up.

Anyone have suggestions on how to get a Gorilla locking acorn lug nut off? I beat a smaller socket all the way onto it, and it still didn't grab enough to break the lug nut loose.

Lol...a gator grip is the way I got the front ones off. They weren't torqued though.

I'm going to send one of the front ones in to Gorilla, and they said they can get me the key if I send them a lug nut.
 
bolt extractor sockets from Harbor Freight would work I would think...

or wouldn't a tire shop have an extra gorilla lug nut tool that you could rent or borrow?
 
Update: I got a new lug key from Gorilla in L.A. I still had to beat that on, because I messed the one lug nut up pretty good. However, once I beat it on with a rubber mallet, I cranked the lug nut right off. That was a relief.

Tomorrow morning I'm headed to my dad's garage to install my rear lift, new lower ball joints, and a few other incidental items. Then it gets the tires balanced, an alignment and I'll be driving it every day again for a while. I miss it. New pictures to come after it's sitting pretty with the new lift and tires. :fro:
 
The lift is finally done. My dad and I installed the rear coils and new shocks this morning....finally....it seems like it's been 5 years since I got the parts.

We only ran into one problem, and that was getting the panhard bar back on. We used a come-along to pull the axle over, but it took a little bit experimenting before we even did that. For some reason after we disconnected it, it did NOT want to line back up, and no amount of prying or pushing was getting it close. So the come-along ended up doing the trick.

Now the mods listing in my signature are actually correct and 100% accurate!
 
Thanks guys! I forgot I had band practice in the early afternoon yesterday, so I ran out of time to do anything else besides the lift. I don't think the LBJ's will be hard though, so I should be able to knock them out this week.
 
Do you have any neighbors within sight? I'd have the Porsche projector mod or the like high on my list if I lived back in the country again.

I live in town, my parents place is out in the country. I'd love to have projector HID's...but there's no way I'd spend that much $$ on lights. I'm more than happy with my silverstar ultra's in the '99 housings. They light the road up better than my other two cars.
