So I have a 2024 TRD Pro and the exhaust is driving me crazy. I like the side exit but the sound you get inside the cabin is awful and it is not quieting down. I have almost 5,000 miles so far. Is there anything that can be done short of replacement with another exhaust. The normal 4Runner exhaust is fine but prefer the side exit over the rear exit on the regular exhaust.
Quiet down 2024 TRD Pro Exhaust?

Agreed, the drone is annoying and I can’t believe Toyota of all mfgrs thought it was acceptable. I was hoping mine would mellow out (50 miles so far) but if you’re at 5K then for me.
I’m considering a magnusson s/c so maybe that will remove droning…….

The only way to get rid of the drone is to switch out the exhaust or add a resonator, which adds expense and ruins the OEM exhaust if you want to sell it. You will be relieved if you just replace it. I was in the exact same boat you are.
I always wanted a 4runner so I bought a 2023 TRD Pro last year before they redesigned it. I wanted the 4 liter, etc. Anyway, we took it on a couple of road trips and HATED the catback exhaust drone. We are in our early 50's, so maybe we are just too old for it, but it drove us absolutely nuts at interstate speeds and rpms. It gave us a headache and we could not even hold a conversation. We loved everything else about the truck though. I finally had enough and at 5000 miles I put on a Magnaflow Overland exhaust. I went with it because it came with a resonator that you could install specifically to get rid of drone at highway speeds and the install is pathetically easy. We are at 15k now and far more satisfied with it than the TRD catback. The drone is gone and it still sounds good. Plus I have more clearance. Sold my OEM TRD exhaust in just a few days on FB market place for almost what the new Magnaflow cost, so all I was out was about $75 and the time it took for me to install it, which was about an hour. I think they have went up in price though now because they have gotten more popular. I bought mine for less than $700 and sold my OEM for just a little over $600. Some people really want that OEM with the black chrome tip.

I frankly want to try out the PRO/TRD exhaust on my '23 ORP. I'm hoping I can find one relatively cheap at some point. I'll keep my factory exhaust around for if and when I get sick of it. Road trips would be annoyingly droney, but I would like to experience really hearing this V6 when I'm offroading.
You could always try to trade it for a non-PRO/TRD 5th gen factory muffler. Plenty of people will trade their muffler plus cash for yours.
Frankly, between the exhaust and the awkward roof rack that many people don't want, I don't understand the rationale for buying a TRD PRO vs. an ORP for most buyers.

I don't know about other folks, but these were my reasons. First, I've always wanted a 4Runner but at most stages of my life I couldn't afford or justify one due to priorities. Now I can, easily, so I bought a trim I know will probably retain one of, if not, the best resale value in my geographic location. Secondly, I bought the 4Runner to replace my wife's daily with the intent being that she could drive it for a couple of years and if she doesn't like it, we will get her something different BUT we will keep the 4Runner as my toy and a spare car. For my wife to agree to that, it had to have certain options that were a deal breaker. I wanted it to have all the off-road options (locker, MTS, etc.) because I use that stuff a lot and she wanted certain things in the multimedia suite. The kicker was that the only trim that came with both of those things in one trim was the PRO. Believe me, if I could have ordered it without the basket and exhaust, I would have and if I could have convinced her to do without the things she wanted, I would have gotten the Off-Road trim. So, there you go. Reasons.

Toyota makes a roof rack delete kit. Take off the “basket”, sell it on EBay, then put on the delete kit.
Different topic in regards to keeping parts; I just now decided to clear out a few parts from the 4runner. Stock intake set up finally decided to toss it after about 3 years of sitting on a shelf. TRD in take is fine and Im use to the sound to it
I know they do, but other than aesthetics, the basket has turned out to not be that big of a deal. It is, amazingly, not noisey and I've seen some issues people have had with using the delete kit that, for now, I'd just as soon avoid.

You know the TRD Offroad and TRD Offroad Premium have the rear locker and the MTS?
Does the TRD PRO multimedia do something the TRD Offroad Premium system doesn't?
My understanding is to put it quickly, a TRD PRO is a TRD Offroad Premium that gets the special port-installed appearance pieces, fancy front shocks, mandatory sunroof, automatic climate control, somewhat better (but still P-metric) A/T tires, TRD roofrack, TRD wheels, TRD skidplate, and TRD exhaust. Everything else is the same IIRC (am I missing anything?). About $8,750+ for the PRO privilege over an ORP, combined with less ability to haggle lower. You also lose the ability to get some options things like KDSS.
You already bought the car, no worries, I just felt like pointing some stuff out.
I already know ALL of this and, yes, you are missing something; actually several things. I research my car purchases extensively, so if that isn't obvious, that's how I know any of this. I just felt like pointing this out, but this is easily available on the website trim comparison tool. The things the Limited and PRO have that the OR packages do not are:
1. Remote Connect in the Connected services. That is not a big deal to me, and probably not to you, but it was to her for certain reasons and this was the biggest deal breaker on the OR packages.
2. Panoramic View Monitor. She really likes this for parking because where she parks for work is pretty tight.
3. Premium Audio with JBL
4. Dual zone automatic climate control with air filter and second-row vents
5. Auto on/off headlights
These were all things she preferred to have if she was going to be driving the vehicle. I didn't want the Limited 4WD system. That only left the PRO as the option for both of our preferences.

The 2023+ ORP's do get heated steering wheels, and I do have second row vents, but the rest was helpful, thanks!
OK. Corrected. The second row vents are superfluous to the description for dual zone climate control.

I've got 60k miles on my '21 TRD Pro and yeah... the exhaust is annoying as hell. Can barely have a conversation with a passenger while on the highway. Toyota designers are not winning any points with this monstrosity.
The flanges for the mid-section are different between the normal exhaust and the trd pro catback exhaust. The normal one is a 2 hole design and the trd pro is a three hole design. There is no plug and play solution for it that I have ever found. Basically your option is to replace it with another exhaust that has the proper 3 hole mid-section, which is usually some sort of other brand of performance exhaust, or have a muffler shop cut off one flange and weld on the proper one. The muffler shop option would probably be the least expensive option especially if you can find a used OEM exhaust someone wants to get rid of.
