"Quik Wax"

I was at the local Wal-Mart the other day, and saw something called Meguiars "Quik Wax". Supposedly, just spray it on, and wipe it off. Is this stuff any good? Obviously, I'm not an obsessive detailer, but at least I use a mitt to wash, and a chamois to dry, so I'm getting better....

I use it. I use it during car washes that don't involve a full detail. Just wash, and wax with that. Works well, imo. I don't always have the time to fully polish it and wax it, so I think this is a good thing to use in between those times..

IMO, it doesn't really do much to improve your paint job anymore than the carnuaba wax in car wash liquids. I use it mainly to remove the few water spots that "Mr. Clean" leaves behind and also to remove bird droppings or gunk in between washes.

I use Quick Detailer for that. Granted, it doesn't do much, but I have the bottle, and may not buy another one after it. I bought it at school where I didn't have time to wash, let alone wax my truck, so when I did wash it, I would wax it with it. Well, I have some still, and use it inbetween washes for now. Works, as I don't get to wash my truck that often, once a month if I'm lucky..

That stuff works well but only if you have a solid wax job to start with and you use that inbetween the serious wax jobs;good wax jobs aren't Quik.

I love the stuff. I do agree that you shouldn't use it as your base wax. A good arm work-out is needed once in a while too. However, the stuff is so easy to use, you get addicted to waxing.

I agree with the rest of these guys. I'm addicted to Meguiars products. I use the "Gold Class" wax, "Quik Detailer", and "Quik wax". You definately need a stronger base coat of wax then the Quik Wax because as soon as it rains that stuff is gone. It is good to use in between a real wax job though, brings out the shine nicely. If all I have is water spots on my truck (after it rains) then I'll bust out the Quik Detailer to remove 'em quick. Unfortunately there is no "easy" way to get a good wax job on your truck, unless you pay someone else to do it I guess.

I good over the counter product I recommend trying is Eagle one's "wax as U dry" Any retailer just about carries it. When your done washing just mist each panel with it and dry and you will have added shine with a *little* durability for those in between wax jobs.

I've also tried the Eagle One "wax as u dry". Personally I think it worked about the same as the "quick wax". I do like Eagle One products though. I use their wheel cleaner (forget what it's called) and it seems to work really well. As far as all of the quick or easy waxes go, they all work about the same. Just like with vehicles people tend to get "brand biased" depending on what they've been using. In my experience with all of the quick waxes I've used, they all need reapplied after it rains. I've had an awesome shine with both Eagle One and Meguiars temporarily. Main thing is you need to have a base coat of real wax for any of these to work as they're supposed too.

I totally agree. Quick waxes definitly don't provide any long term protection. Only good for a little extra POP after a washing or maybe before a show. Eagle one's A2Z wheel cleaner is excellent IMO. It is my go to wheel cleaner for baked on brake dust.

Will the Eagle One A2Z harm your 17" factory alloy rims?
Also, I have another question for some of the peeps on here.

What is the best tire cleaner that one can use which doesn't harm his alloy rims?

It can harm the rims if you let it sit to long. Let sit for 20-30 sec tops. I only use it on wheels that are in poor shape, not every wash. With aluminum wheels you have to be careful what you use on them and how long you let it sit on the rim.

For routine rim and tire cleaning, I use an All purpose cleaner diluted 10:1 . does the job just fine, although I don't go months without washing my vehicles either.

Eagle one A2Z serves as a tire cleaner also.

What wax are you guys using paste or liquid? I never used paste, only liquid. What do you think has better protection and shine?
