Quit to travel on my 4runner

Hi everyone,

I recently quit my job in NYC, put all my belongings in storage and decided to use all our savings to simply travel and travel. We have no route or destination, just letting things takes us wherever they should. Sometimes it's good to just let' go.

I bought my third 4Runner to this trip. It's called "The Great White" and it's like a member of the expedition. I take great care of this beast because I intend to drive it until I bury it, or it buries me. I really really love it and I hope you do to.

If you haven't already I would suggest installing a hidden kill switch or relay to prevent the truck from being stolen.

Having any vehicle taken is bad, but for you, on this trip I image it would poison your dream trip.

Also the truck club is pretty good.

They do steal vehicles in EU right?

I appreciate your affinity for life and making the most of it the way I think we're supposed to; Going outside of our comfort zone, exploring, trying new things and going new places, and seeing what this beautiful earth has to offer. I have a lot of respect for the fact you quit your job which by the look of things was paying well, to be able to travel the world. It's definitely a much needed perspective change for the menial things dealt with day-to-day in the "system".
Can't wait to see where you continue to go. And I can't wait even more until I have enough moolah stored away to be able to do the same thing. Safe travels!

Yes, the answers to a lot of our problems are on the road. Going on an epic journey is something I highly recommend. It's very different that being on vacation. Being able to go anywhere and drive so much is good for the spirit and the soul.

Def worth quitting and leaving the house and everything behind. If you can't fit it in your car, you probably don't need it.

I have several months ahead so I'll try to post often.

That sounds awesome, I'll definitely follow this thread as you update it. I'm planning on doing something similar once I graduate school and I'm somewhat financially secure. I want to build my runner up, start on the east coast, and do a full country loop, seeing moab, death valley, the northwest, and parts of montana/idaho while I'm at it. Basically I want to go on an expedition through some of the most remote places in America.

And if you ever find yourself traveling through Nashville and need a place to camp let me know! Ive got a few wooded acres with a decent spot you can pull your 4runner right up to down from the house.

Sounds awesome what you did and what you plan to do! Did a mini version of this with my wife and the Runner all over southwestern US. If you ever end up in the midwest in Iowa you have a place to crash or do some vehicle upkeep/repair!
