I don't think that anyone is getting the "holier than thou" attitude. It just seems like the majority thought here is that if you're going to drive reckless then you're bound to have to pay the piper at some point. It is very unfortunate that a girl lost her father and I feel very bad for her. Being that young and losing a parent has to be though, no doubt about it. The point is that the roads weren't closed off (at least not reported by the news) so they were driving reckless at an extreme speed that could have killed more people and left more children without parents. I mean, come on... how fast do you need to be driving for your car to explode upon impact? The end result was unfortunately fitting to his actions.

No one here has ever gotten themselves in a pucker inducing situation while wheeling? That's our choice to drive off-road.
No one has ever been a passenger in a car while the driver was being a complete douche-bag? I certainly have. It's been a long time, but I certainly wouldn't want my peers saying I got what I deserved before my body was even cold.

I'm not going to say that I'm perfect. Yes, I made some very bad decisions 10 years ago that could have hurt other people. But I learned from my mistakes and from the mistakes of others and have made smarter decisions since then. Paul Walker was 40, not a 20 y/o kid. He had a family and he ignored all of that when he decided to do what he did.
I've seen the aftermath of quite a few bad accidents, due to having a friend that is an accident investigator.
Obviously the car was moving. How fast? we don't know. If the EDR survived intact, they will know exactly how fast it was going at time of impact. Meeting a relatively thin immovable object like that tree trunk, the car wouldn't have to be going at a really high rate of speed, to cause what we see in the pic.
Since we don't have the facts, I won't also make the foolish mistake of speculating.

You need to compare apples to apples. There's a huge difference between driving too fast and taking a half million dollar 600 horsepower street legal race car down a 35 mph road at 125.

Exactly. It takes one person and one alone person to make their own decisions. He could have decided not to speed. He could have decided not to get into the car to impress a friend, the list could go on. If you know you have responsibilities and dedications, I.E daughter, wife, a career...why would you put that into jeopardy? Terrible as it may be but like it's been said. Gamble with death and you might not like what the deal is.

Nobody is blaming the passenger. The driver is obviously to blame but it was initially reported Walker was the driver.

I've been a passenger in a car several times when the Darwin-switch activated in the driver. Scary stuff. I think all we can say is that the car was *obviously* going way to fast. There's really no point in looking for compassion or grace in an SUV internet forum on a Saturday night, or any other night for that matter.

There's tracks for that reason.
I'm sorry, there was a pretty recent amount of speed that caused that car to burst into flames, and to look like that.
You can say he was "doing the speed limit" all you want, but unless he was on the autobahn, I call BS.

Every report I've seen indicated he was a passenger.
There's a whole lot of judgement being passed around here with zero basis for it. Facts should be gathered before defaming a deceased persons's final moments.

Not sure how you figure that. The report I read stated he was driving. Clearly someone posted an update saying he was possibly a passenger. Looking at that car, it might not be possible to tell who was driving. Regardless of who it was, they made several stupid mistakes and paid for them. Unfortunately they cost another person their life.

We are all here because we're car guys. I expected to come here and see people pay their respects for someone who has been a huge car enthususiast for a long time. Regardless of how he died, it was an accident and it's incredibly disappointing to see how judgemental some folks can be.

The accident occurred in Santa Clarita — outside of Los Angeles — when Walker's Porsche apparently lost control and crashed into a tree, TMZ reported. The car burst into flames and exploded.
