I figured I'd pass this on as it seems like everyone is always looking for the wires to tap when they hardwire a radar detector or for that matter any kind of 12V device.
The way I did my Valentine 1 is pretty similar to everyone else. Ran the power cord up the A pillar and tucked the wire under the headliner, dropping the wire above the rear view mirror. Then I ran the wire down the wire holder for the auto-dimming mirror. Came out pretty good.
From searching the board, the problem most people have is hardwiring it into the fuse box. I found a neat little gadget at Pepboys which should help everyone out. It plugs into a fuse in the fuse box effectively splitting it. Your original circuit is fused with the 'A' socket and the second new circuit (with a 12V power wire coming out of it) is fused to the 'B' socket. I plugged into the ACC fuse, got my power and was done. Very easy.
Here is a picture like the one I found. It was $8.
