I got home, took out my radio and realized why my radio wasn't working,

looks like someone just cut the cable going to the back of the old head unit

Know anything about the previous owner or how to get in touch? My guess would be that they had wired in another unit, removed it and cut the wires to it and just bolted in the original head unit before getting rid of the truck. What would worry me most is wondering what else was done half assed before leaving it to someone else.

Or the previous owner put that factory head unit in after the previous after market one was stolen, hence the cut wires. It's hard to tell from your picture, but are you sure the connector isn't still in there? Follow the cut wires back to plug, that may be what goes into the head unit. If not, go get it at a scrap yard or from one of the part-out trucks in the classifieds here.

So the wiring on the back of the pioneer was cut right ?

But isn't that a detachable wiring harness? I know on my Alpine and most HU it is just a detactable piece that can be replaced. Buy another one on EBAY or call Pioneer on Monday and order one for $15.

Also lookup the model # in a BASIC google search.

"pioneer model_number manual" the results should bring up a PDF of the manual with lots of pictures explaining what is what.

As for the Toyota wiring harness you will need the 4Runner wiring diagram .. it is around but I don't have a link handy. :car:

Here you go:

Your Pioneer wasn't cut, right? There should be a pigtail connector with the unit. You just need to splice the Pioneer pigtail with wires in the truck, matching the colors according to function. They should be pretty close, except maybe the speaker colors. If it is missing, yeah eBay or these guys:http://www.installer.com/index.php

I figure PO cut out his own HU when he sold the truck, and just stuck the stock HU back in the hole, except he forgot to keep the old truckside pigtail when he cut it out originally.
