Radio "works" -- But Display Has No Information and Doesn't Light Up

Hello,

On my 2010 4Runner, when I turn the car on, the radio display which was illuminated in orange previously, no longer lights up and no characters display. I can use the "MODE" option on the steering wheel to change the mode, so something is "working," but since the display has nothing on it, I'm not sure what to do.

Is there a fuse that needs replacing, or is there something else fundamentally broken? I have also played with the switch that adjusts how bright the dash is, and that seems to have no effect.

You are getting power to the radio unit but the illumination isn't working.? It's illuminated with integrated LEDs on the circuit board. LEDs are very reliable. There is an illumination wire in this circuit. Check the path from the fuse to the radio for continuity. Also a harness connector is in this path check the illumination associated pins for damage or bent in the connector. If it's all good the circuit board in the radio is most likely faulty.. If so keep it and figure out what the problem if you like tinkering. I attached the circuit diagram.

If the dimmer switch works on the dash then it's not the issue.

This happens to me once a year. A big whack with my palm fixes it. I think that means it's a connection issue.
