Rain getting in......

When it rains for an hour or so I have noticed my floorboard on the driver side gets wet. I've been pulling the carpet back and letting everything dry out. But I still cant seem to find where/how it is coming in.

Anyone know of an area that is known for leaking? Or suggestions?

I had the same exact problem as you and it drove me crazy from day one! :gun4:
My solution which has worked great for me was get yourself a tube of black silicone, I believe 3M has one that works well in this situation however the name slips my mind but any good silicone should work! Anyways open the hood and look on the drivers side firewall under the brake fluid resivour. You should see a cable that goes through your firewall to the driverside floorboard behind the top of the brake pedal. Clean and silicone this area well and allow to dry. This should help! If i wasn;t at work I would take a picture for you. sorry hope this helps

^^^ If somebody ran new wires through the grommet for lights, stereo, etc. they probably cut the grommet or pulled it loose (mine leaked when I bought it). Make sure it is seated and seal it up with silicon or RTV. Messy but should do the trick.

Just had the same problem with my runner and my Taco too.
I ran a power wire for sub thru that grommet and sealed it with RTV back in October. Was doing spring clean up in the Runner and found the drivers floor wet and the joot under carpet soaked. :lasercannon:

Come to find out the RTV shrunk.:gun4: The water was following the power wire into the cab of truck. It drips off the cowl and onto the bundle of wire and then onto the power wire.

I had to build a little cover(umbrella) for it made out of old rubber floor mats I had lying around to deflect the water away from the bundle of wires and grommet.

I don't have pictures of it yet, the Runner is in hibernation for a few months while I drive my car for the summer.
But I will try to take some pictures in the next week or 2 of the (umbrella) I made.

I have a similar problem. Also doesn't help that my sunroofs "drip tray" fell out a few years ago.

I am still trying to figure out how I can easily and cheaply install a new drip tray. Right now I just put blue painters tape over the sunroof during the wet months. I live in San Diego so it doesn't rain much.

Mine used to leak through the sunroof. The plastic piece that surrounds the glass had a (factory) seam in the middle front, and it dripped through there. i basically did the same thing and apply some sort of sealant, even superglue works, over the seam. The dripping stopped.
