Ran over some debris on the freeway, warning lights came on

So today on the way to work there was a ladder on the freeway, I swerved to miss it and ran over some other debris, not sure what it was. So i get off the freeway like normal and notice the warning light came on and the VSC/TRAC lights are on. They have never come on before. I looked around under the car and couldnt see anything obviously wrong.

I know I will probably have to take it to the dealer, but anyone have any ideas? What could have been hit to make these come on? Theres no way its just a coincidence.

Try a reset (if they stay on) by pulling the neg. battery cable before going to a stealer.

Is just those 2 lights on? Not ABS or anything like that?

Its hard to imagine that you ripped any wires with a latter and some debris on the road. In general most things under the truck are pretty well protected. If anything the exhaust would be the first thing to rip off from road debris (ask me how I know):bash:

Q: if you pull the wire to reset it, then are you also deleting the error code?? In other words, when the dealer does a diagnostic on your car, will he/she see the error code that set off the "christmas tree" of warning lights??

It was the check light, VSC/TRAC light, and the VSC OFF light. I figured if anything it would be something with the brakes but there was no ABS light.

I just reset it by pulling the battery lead and it seems to have gone away. Ill see what happens when I actually go for a drive.

I think the vsc module saw parameters that were outside of normal. When you swerved, the combination of yaw, steering wheel angle and wheel speed sensors, were temporarily out of normal readings, activating the vsc and also causing an error. The fact that you run a slightly larger tire may have also been a factor as the system was calibrated for slightly smaller tires.

A: Pulling the wire also resets the learned engine parameters therefore I think all the codes (even code history) get deleted because they are in a volatile memory. The other way they clear is automatically after 40 or 50 engine start/stop sequences.
