Rancho Shocks?? Anyone Tried them??

Hi all, newbie here with a new "to me" 1998 4Runner 4x4 V6. I am really on a budget, but I need to put new shocks on this Runner I just got. I will not be doing any serious off-roading.
I am looking at the Rancho RS5000 shocks to replace the OE shocks still on the truck (117,000miles). I found a set of 4 on tsetruckstuff.com for about $140 with free shipping.

Has Anyone used these or heard anything about them. They dont have to be the best but they have to be safe. WHat do you guys think

Had them on 1978 Ford Bronco with 3" chassi lift - they are GOOD!!! The price seems to be right as well.

IMO - go for it.

I do not have Rancho shocks on my 4runner but on my Jeep I had Rancho 5000 shocks. They are very firm riding. I took them off because I could not stand the stiff bonejarring ride. As I stated I am not sure about these shocks on other aplications. In the Quadratech Jeep catalog they list all shocks as to ride etc. and Ranchos 5000 are rated very firm. The 9000 adjustables are very good but expensive. On my Jeep I now have Skyjacker Hydro shocks. $33 each and they ride smooth (also rated as smooth in the catalog).
Do not get Skyjacker gas shocks as they are stiff also.

I will confirm that too . Had them on my CJ5 and found them stiff . Good shock but stiff on the Jeep . 4R has a smoother suspension and more weight so it might be better

Had Rancho 9000 in front 'n' rear, also had one steering shock from 'em.

Split the steering damper in half, broke one shock in front and had to weld it back together. The top piece broke off the shaft.

And in the rear... well, they didn't survive very long either.
I still got the ones in front, pretty okay but totally bloated, the adjust buttons on them don't work anymore so it's pretty pointless. Maybe they're okay for a less stressin' vehicle. but I surely don't like 'em.

Got OME's in rear and prolly will go for OME in front or bilstein perhaps. Koni are good too but way to expensive...
