Random 3rd gen appreciation

Some time it just mounts up you know. Anyways, I just wanted to publicly display my love for my Toyota. I loved it ever since I've bought it but as friends and women have come and gone this baby has been there through it all. I have beat the living hell out of this thing since I bought it in 2006 and its amazing its still running the way it is. Its been dirty as hell these past 2 weeks from 3 snowboarding trips and last night I finally washed it. It sounds stupid but having it that dirty for a while sort of made me forget how good the paint still looked. This morning I went out to it and couldn't help but smile at how good it looked. To this day I'm still turning my head when I walk away from it and I still love the hell out of driving it. Still get daily compliments and questions and I just absolutely love it. I thought I may have to sell it but given a successful holiday season I am going to be introducing another 3rd gen into the stable soon.

Like I said, random, but my appreciation kind of took a back seat these past few weeks to work and all, but its holding up just like I expect it to. Also thankful for this forum and the sense of a real community. Glad we can all share this stuff, help each other and ultimately enable ourselves into furthering our addictions. Must have got bit by the holiday bug, LOVE YOU GUYS (no homo) :drummer::guitar2::lol::lookout::reddance::p: :boink::boink::boink:

Oh man... another one!, can't wait to see what it turns into. I too have had a neck ache these last 4 months from turning and admiring my truck so much and I haven't even really gotten anything done to it yet. They definitely are some great looking vehicles and with the amount of miles we have on em... solid ones at that!

I'm still keeping my eyes open for that color you wanted...very difficult to locate! Oh, and well put my friend!

Glad to hear you won't have to sell your rig. Yours is one of my favorite on this site. Reading your build thread has inspired me to do a ton of stuff to mine. I share your appreciation for these vehicles, just wish my wife understood a little better! HA!

Look forward to seeing what you do to the new one! Happy holidays, nice post.

Gary

AMEN i feel the same. even though mine is not as built as yours i catch myself walking backwards sometimes just appreciating the truck. we have 3 cars and whenever i go anywhere i always take the 4runner even though my parents have an is250 i could rock in

These are amazing trucks and they hold up so well. Im a salesman at a Toyota dealership in VA and we rarely come across any 3rd gen 4runners or even Tacomas. However, last week we traded a 98 limited with 197k and we have a 99 Ford Explorer on the lot with 137k which was one owner and has all service records. The 4runner has had 6 owners and has no service records and was dirty as hell when it was traded but it runs, drives, and has held up a lot better than the one owner Explorer. That goes to show how tough these trucks really are!

:iagree: Well said. I thought I was the only one that's walked into parked cars or tripped over curbs. They diagnosed me with 4Runnerosis! Inability to watch where your going when there's a 4Runner in line of sight. Doc says it's terminal, ohh well :happens:

Love my Runner

With the the help from the great folks here and especially Hepar, I've got a sweet truck, I've owned over 30 cars and trucks and this might be my favorite!

Im glad im not the only one looking back a million times when i get out of my truck too. haha and people think im crazy when i say that Im going to keep this thing forever. little do they know!

Haha yeah I'm trying hard to keep this one for down the road. This one is going to turn into a pavement pounder/mountain truck and this is what I've outlined.

-Rebuilt engine, tranny...still considering 2uz-fe swap
-Blacked out interior with rear bench and front racing seats saddle brown
-FSA or TC longtravel

Here's a picture from this past weekend in the mountains

Well said Weston... i feel like that too and had a dilemma on whether to sell or not also so i know exactly wat u mean. Ya dude i thought bout blacking out my interior but urs will def look great! ive also been thinking bout racing seats in the 4runner but havent been able to find any that i like that wont break the bank.

Its kool, i hate when that happens but oh well... just found out there is a lady on yotatech that sent the piece i needed to me yesterday tho i havent paid her since she doesnt know her paypal account info. Im so ready to get this thing fixed and move on.

Thanks to whoever gave my nearly 2 year post a like, very cool to come back and read in the morning. Man did I love driving that truck, what the hell was I thinking? The worst part is I sold it because the job I had didn't work with it, and now I have a new job and it could matter less what I drive, and now it's a gut-wrenching feeling. Hopefully the Camry will be sold soon and I can be back in a 4Runner ready to start over.

Hope everyone is doing well, miss you my dudes.

Enjoy if you like that kind of thing! :P

Looking forward to seeing another brother back in a T4R - hurry up! :D
