Random clunk when shutting off.

So, every once in a while I hear a clunk type sound when I shut my truck off. Sounds like something around the oil/tran pan area. I put the truck in park and set the hand brake before letting off the brake pedal, then shut the truck off. Sometimes I immediately hear the clunk, other times I do not.

I did recently grease drive shaft within the last few months per instructions found on this site. Any ideas guys?

Also, no issues with transmission, or going in/out of 4WD hi/lo.

I imagine that may just be the torque converter "catching up" with what you're telling the car to do.

Almost 8 years later I'm willing to bet that the OP has sold the vehicle by now and now owns a 5th Gen 4Runner judging by his profile pic.
