Random Noise on '14

I've had my 14 for about 9 months now. In that time there have been 6 or 7 occasions when we've walked out into the garage to hear a motor/fan noise coming from between the rear tires. It's not super loud, just a soft hum. It's never there when I turn the car off, only when it's been sitting for a while. We've always heard it in the morning so I have no idea how long after I turn the car off it starts. It goes away by turning the car to the on position and back off again.

I took it to my local dealer with a video so they could hear the sound and they in not so many words told me I'm an idiot. The guy told me next time I hear to pull the car out of the garage, close the garage door, and then go back in the garage to see if the sound is still there. Thanks genius, but we are 100% certain the noise is coming from my car.

Has anyone else experienced this on a 4Runner? We have no clue what is making the noise but something in the rear of the car is turning itself on after the car has been shut off.

It's completely normal. It is the EVAP system running a leak test. .

It occurs after the ignition switch is turned off and the fuel has cooled enough (several hours) to run the test.
