As a volunteer paramedic for the City of Virginia Beach, I have gotten many opportunities to do some pretty cool things. One such opportunity that presented itself over the summer was to take the EMS Dept's Flight Medic Class. A group of us (career and volunteer paramedics) have been in class since August and beginning in December, we started our hands-on training. The city owns two helicopters, a Bell 407 and 206. They are operated as a joint operation with the VBPD. They provide the pilots and VBEMS provides the medics. These are just a few of the cellphone shots I've taken at the helipad which I though were cool. Enjoy!
The hangar with both aircraft. The primary (407) and backup (206). The 206 cannot be used for medevac ops.
