Random starting issues

Hi there everyone. Im fairly new on here and don't really know anyone but I was wondering if I could get some help diagnosing a problem. I do do a lot of my own mechanical work and know a lot of stuff but I still like to bounce ideas off people. I'm an external processor and figure things out better this way.

So here's the problem. I have a random starting issue. Every now and again my truck will randomly not start at all. Nothing. Just the fuel pump goes and there is a click in the ECU. I have to push start the truck to get it going. I noticed the other day that if I let it sit for a bit it will start after awhile. It usually happens after running the vehicle a bit then turning the motor off but it happens at complete random. Like you can drive for 20 minutes, stop, turn the truck and it will start. Then you drive another 20 minutes and it won't start. Or you will drive all day with no issues then all of a sudden...nothing. It will go weeks and weeks without any issues at all then bam. Just like that.:wtf:

I will tell you what I have done so far. I have cleaned the battery terminals, replaced the wire from the battery to the relay box, (properly with shrink wrap and such) and checked every single essential wire for the starting system. The starter looks fairly new and it is a nice bosch starter too. So if you guys have ideas please tell me...I'm at a bit of a loss and have a 10 hour trip next week. Thanks a lot everyone

I am having the same issue, 1989 v-6. Had the starter rebuilt and still has random starting issues. I hear the classic "click" noise and it always starts right up with a jump....or waiting for some time.
Is this a solenoid issue?

I had a car do this and it ended up being the battery cables. That was an explorer though, and they had bad cables.
