That's my side job. You should've seen my jeep when I originally got it. Had to build a new rear for the frame from the axle back. It was parked in mud since the mid 90s and it honestly should not have been saved.

Well, this is a major discovery for me today. I never saw manual windows on an SR5. At first I thought it was a base that someone put chrome bumpers on until I saw the pics of the engine. That had me going WTF.
I think I've come up with the rarest combo:
SR5 V6 with manual transmission, manual windows, rear locker, and grey interior.
Manual windows are rare as-is, but it is way more common on the base model as far as I can tell as of today.
It's such a shame that this truck is a rusty pig. The owner didn't realize how damn rare this is.

Agreed, never thought about an SR5 with manual windows. The first year of the 3rd Gen probably had some weird combo's.
I dont think people realize how bad it is to park on grass, dirt, gravel, etc...The moisture rots the truck out from underneath. Luckily my trucked has lived on cement (parked on the street in LI) & blacktop (had my gravel driveway blacktopped when I bought my house).

I couldn't get him to come down in price when I went to go check it out. I started at $1200 and went up to $1400. He came down to $1700. When I looked at it I noticed the LCA mounts looked like they were about to fall off and it would need a frame swap cuz I felt some soft spots when I poked it with my hammer. I started low because of that. I might give him a call when my tax return comes in. I mean for me it would be an easy fix if I got it cuz I have a nice frame from my 99 limited that I'll start to part out in the summer and a nice tailgate for it too.

It's been over a month since he posted it. I bet he will budge to get rid of it at some point. I figured that the control arm mounts would look like swiss cheese when I saw the rockers.

! My return should be in in a couple of days and then I'll give him a call and hopefully get it. I'm gonna be running out of room to store all of my projects though pretty soon.

That 1st one has 21 service records on its car fax, I'm sure there is more good things in it, looks like it was taken car of.
That 2nd one was poorly neglected on its car fax, stay away.
Oh and I'm using the free app... It won't show me everything just the service records... So if it failed or passed emissions, and any dealer or other good shop that did its repairs... The app is free.

I think it depends on where it was bought too....
We never got the 3rd gen in the UK, so all of outs are Japanese Imports..
As such the colour choices and spec lists are in lime with what was popular in japan at that time..
Colour wise Black didn't seem very popular, so for us Black Is quite rare.. but there are way more in that "interesting" sky blue.. most seem to be burgundy navy blue or dark green.
They also had a different range of options, and less of a "fixed spec" than the Export 4Runner.
I think that rarest option I've seen is the interior roof mounded factory air purifier.... they also did a GPS version of the roof mounted field monitor.. along with the other JDM type stuff... auto rear mirrors, mock carbon fibre trim, electronic hard/soft damping etc. they also had an alternative instrument cluster that looked pretty cool... more like a Lexus style one with cold cathode lighting (I think.....)

Leather was a option on the SR5, standard on Limited. Not too rare.

My 96 has leather...mostly. Plus its anSR5 with the gold package. I thought my 2001 was a Limited but it's an SR5 with a bunch of limited options and no cladding, thank goodness. It's also rocking the gold package

That 1998 is rare! SR5 with manual windows, black flares, sport seat package, and the 15 inch rims. I would say that the lack of a sunroof is fairly uncommon on the SR5. Nice find. An SR5 with leather is not so common, but definitely not crazily rare.
