Rattling noises return

my 4runner had a rolling marble/rattling sound coming from the front driver's side area. Supposedly this was resolved last week. Now rattling has returned but a different kind of rattle and I can't place where it is coming from. It sounds like a vibrational rattle and only occurs when street surface is rough/bumpy. I removed all loose items from the inside of the runner to make sure that these items were not causing the noise. Made no difference...rattling still there. My vehicle has been worked on three times for "rattling" noises: moonroof TSB repair, additional insulation in headliner and replacement of sub-base assembly. I am very fed up with this. I like the performance and comfort of my 4Runner but am disappointed in the construction. I will be calling the service dept. as well as Toyota tomorrow. At least I had a few days of quiet comfort without any rattling.

This sounds similar to the case with my mom's Solara....

Possible culprits could include a loose connection in the glove compartment or on one of the car seat assemblies. Just some possibilities to consider....

Report rattling noises to Toyota

Just wondering how many of you who are experiencing various rattling sounds and other noises in 4runner have called Toyota to complain. I finally called their corporate office and talked to a customer rep. giving him a list of the problems I have experienced with my 4runner. He said he was surprised to hear about all of the problems and that he will do some research and get back to me. Just looking at the posts here about rattles I can't believe that this comes as a suprise to Toyota, although this person is not involved with the mechanical/repair end of things. I do think that there are issues with quality control as well as construction problems on many 2003 and possibly 2004 4runners. I would suggest that if you are experiencing various rattles and other noises which you wouldn't expect to hear in a new vehicle, that you do report this to the Toyota corporate office.
