RCI aluminum skid plates vs Mountain Offroad's version?

Curious which is preferred and why.

Looks like MORE's has more structural supports and may be less likely to bend from an equivalent impact, but RCI's are quite a bit cheaper.

Those who've run them, any opinions one way or the other?

I don't have experience with the Mountain Offroad stuff, but I have a full set of RCI aluminum skids underneath my '18. They are great. I wanted the aluminum ones for the weight savings, but I have hit some rough trails at AOAA and Rausch Creek here in the northeast and they have held up really well. I got a nice rock gash in the front engine skid and simply painted over it. Super nice too because smaller gashes won't rust out if I forget to touch them up too

I had not looked at MORE's stuff before this and they definitely look like they'd be top notch (and remind me of Hefty Fabworks plates). VERY spendy like you said though; they seem over and above everything else out there in aluminum at least (and their steel is not cheap either).

I was looking at plates and pretty much down to Victory 4x4 or RCI. Ended up going RCI for the combination of relatively quick lead time, overall recommendations, price, reputation, and the fact that I really liked their TRD front integration plate since I decided I wanted to keep my TRD Pro front skid in place.

How are oil changes with the TRD skid? It has to be removed to access the filter, correct? vs the RCI and MORE that offer a removable cover to access it, I believe?

Damn the MORE one seems a lot more expensive (I can't remember how much I paid for my RCI one). The bracing does seem nice for front impacts but I feel the rest of the plate will still dent the same like the RCI one in cases where you land on a rock (not front impact). I personally went with the RCI alum because of the sales and now have the steel one. They fit the marlin crawler LCA frame braces I have so didn't want to try something new and have to chop it.

The aluminum one held up great and made oil changes easy.

Its more of a raisin now but still holding up great. (photo is old but still shows some dings)

I scraped the crap out of our RCI bare aluminum skid plate (painted with rustoleum black) during our trip through Arizona and it held up very well. Touched up the scratches and there’s really only one small dent from a really hard hit.

Definitely more than enough skid plate for our typical Florida off road needs.

Correct. That's one advantage I know of that the aftermarkets give you. If something happens to my TRD down the road, I can always just swap to the RCI and integrate it into the other two behind I figure.

Exactly. Big reason I like the RCI set up.
