Trouble Maker: 2007 4Runner, V6, Sport, Lifted 2" OME Low lift, 265/70/17 Duratracs
So we all know this issue has been beat like a dead horse, but I wanted to document the issue with my ride for others. Normal everyday drive (meaning no recent maintenance or mods), and all of a sudden the dreaded ABS, VSC, VSC trac lights all come on. This has happened before, and the good old gas cap was to blame; however, this time there were other symptoms. When I was braking it felt as though the car was kicking the ABS on. The cars brakes felt extremely sensitive (touchy brakes) and there was the standard ABS clicking noise.
Doing what any of us would do, I hopped on to the forum in hopes someone else had had this happen. After reading countless posts, the first step to any trouble light was to pull codes. I had a few failed attempts at finding a place that can even pull ABS codes (most of the national auto stores can't pull ABS codes). The ABS/VSC error lights cannot be read from the standard ODB code reader, so I bit the bullet and took my ride to the shop. We hooked the car up to the brain scanner, and what do you know, no codes. My car had all the lights on, physical symptoms, and no codes were thrown. We reset the codes, and all of the lights cleared. The car made it about a block before the ABS kicked in, and I was right back where I started.
The ride is still at the brain surgeon, but I will update with the results as they come in.
UPDATE: Just in, the front speed sensor went out. Apparently the only way to get the code was to hook up the scanner, reset/clear codes, and then drive until it would trip it up. At the very least, I hope this gets someone else in the right direction!
