Really Slow

i have a 1990 4runner and from a stop it takes off really slow. for a 3.0L engine i would expect much more from what its giving me it feels like i could be passed by a rideable lawnmower heh any ideas on what i could check to make it pickup a bit faster also merging onto the freeway is difficult because of the lack of accelleration.

Sorry, can't help you there...my "expertise" is more for 3rd and 4th gen 4runners.

The site above is not as good as this one in my "unbiased" opinion...but then, none is better in my eyes! However, that site has plenty of 2nd gen owners that can help you out.

Do an engine swap! I'm doing one now and will be done really soon.

There's nothin much you can do to get more Hp out of that engine. Unless you spend krazy amounts of money. If you wanted headers will help.
