Here's the top of the bag, sorry the pic is so bad. The "nub" on the far right is just rubber and basically holds the bag in place. I'm guessing the smaller rubber "nub" in the center is for the same reason, but centers it. There maybe be some metal inside of them, I'm not sure. Also, you'll have to deal with the airline that is on the top, which I forgot to mention in my previous post.



Here's the mount looking straight up at it so you can see the hole pattern you'll have to deal with.



And here's the best pic of what could be the easiest solution if you are or know a confident welder. Just lower the entire mount within the chassis, there is more then enough space for it given the lift you are looking for.

Thanks for posting those pics!!! Could you take a couple of measurements for me (us)? First, it would be nice to know the diameter of the upper mount. Second, the diameter of the spacer at the very top.

We are talking about using a standard spacer that would sit on top of the bag, between it and the upper mount. I looked at mine a few minutes ago. First thing I noticed is that the air line, it's going to be tough to get around that. I know the holes need to be there and lines up, but is there anything physically attaching the air bag to the upper mount?

I'm really thinking about trying to find a local machine shop that could fab up a spacer for the rear. I'd like even a 1" spacer, just anything that would allow me to run lower pressure in the bags for a smoother ride.

Okie dokie... first things first... I have had AOLT to drink tonight with a coulpe buddies and had to read your post with one eye shut (a couple of times) just to kinda get an idea what your asking.

Secondly, I'm in Brazil until the end of June and the parts to be measured are way up north in storage but I do plan on heading there within the first week or so that I am home. So I hope you can wait until then (just over a month from now).

I am drunkenly reading your post over and over again to try to respond... I get what your saying about the diameter of the upper mount but as to the spacer diameter, I'm a little confused as to what your asking for. There was never any spacer there to measure, just the mount welded to the chassis.

The main support holding the bag in the upper mount is the mushroom shaped rubber bit that presses into it (the larger one in the picture to the far right). From what I can tell its just a "stabilizer" so to speak to make sure that everything is held in place and I highly doubt you could rely on it for much more then tht.

I will definatly take the measurements for you guys when I get back up to northern Canada where they are at. Until then, I will continue to suggest to simply cut off this entire upper mount and simply lower it down on the chassis, which shouldn't cost you much more then having somebody fabricate a custom mount to install.

I don't regret doing a leaf spring swap at all as it has been so much fun, but all I wanted was to lift my fuel tank off the ground a little so when I'm off in the moutains exercising my dog I'm not bouncing it off the ground so much. I think that by lowering the mount on the chassis, this would have done me just fine. No regrets to what I have done regardless, but just talk to a shop about it and see what they have to say. IMO its the best way around the issue while keeping the full functionality of the sytem.

Either way, if you are patient, I will take whatever measurements u wish when I get back up north

Here's the measurements I'm talking about. I can compare these to the spacer I have and see how they match. I've got an idea, but measurements are going to have to work in my favor. I've considered pulling my airbag, but I hear there are some seals/o-rings that would need to be replaced and I don't want to take a chance on leaks. If you could provide these, I'd really appreciate it.

Does the air bag just sit in the upper mount, using the weight of the vehicle to hold it in place, or is there something actually attaching the bag to the mount (like the pin on the bottom)?

I'm in no rush as I've already got the desired lift. It would be nice to find a way to lift without adding pressure to the bags since this would have a better ride.

I'll get the measurements for you when I can. The clearance between the two is prety tight.

As for what holds the the bag in the mount, there are the two mushrooms like I mentioned: the small center one and the larger outer one. From what I could see, the larger outter one limits lateral (side to side) movement while the smaller center one holds the bag tight up in the mount - but again, I doubt it's meant for heavy wheeling. This is only my opinion or best guess and I'm not 100% on this, but I am an engineer so its an educated guess at best.
