The connections to the sensor are loacated on your rear diff and they can and do rust and corrode. Check that first. If that is not the case, start checking your rear brakes for problems.

Don't just change it because you THINK it is bad!
Good luck finding one at a junk yard. I have been looking for one since March and have yet to find one. Check the whole rear brake system as well. The Factory Service Manual can be very helpful.

Question, how does the mechanicals of the rear brakes cause the antilock light to come on, i dont see anything electrical for the rear brakes that can cause the anti lock light to come on.

It has nothing to do with the wheels on the early rear only ABS system.
It's all in the diff. Start by checking the wiring and connection.
Look for corroded connections, broken or frayed wires, etc. That's the most common failure mode. The FSM should have a detailed test of the sensor, but mine isn't handy right now.
