Anyone know what changed on the rear axle between 99 and 2000? Did the shaft change or the axle housing? Or both?
I know the bearing and the seal are different. You can see in the pictures below that clearly the color has changed. Ha!
ound: No... but seriously you can see the center of the bearing protrudes on the later 2000-2004 bearing, and the seal of course is larger to accommodate that.
My question is really: can you install a 00-04 shaft into a pre-00 housing using the earlier bearing & seal? I'll be using the pre-00 bearing hub & backing plate.
