Rear Axle Shafts LH - RH interchangeable?

Long story short, a rear pad and rotor DIY job got FUBARed into me needing a new axle shaft assembly (with backing plate) on the left rear side. All Im seeing on ebay is Right hand shafts. Does anyone know if a Right hand assy would work for the left side? Also, anyone have one for sale?

Really the backing plate is what needs to be replaced. Im told its easier to simply locate a used axle shaft assy with the backing plate installed than just install a backing plate as that requires a press. Anyone have any knowledge of this?

without pulling my tire to check, I would guess no. as I expect the backing plate will be cut out on the wrong side to match up with the caliper.

What happened? Was the rotor stuck?

Haha Im embarrassed to say I took off down the highway after a rear rotor replacement and did not bolt on the left rear caliper to the backing plate causing it to skip off and bend the hell out of the heat shield/backing plate.
