Rear axle / wheel bearing recommendations / part numbers??

I was just looking into this. I changed my gear oil 2 weeks ago & yesterday it started leaking on the rear PS. I'm gonna do the Breather Extension Mod & see if it stops leaking. The original breather has never been replaced so I'm pretty sure it's clogged with dust & dirt. If it keeps leaking...well I'm screwed then.

Those original breathers are an abomination. I've never not replaced the seal when it starts leaking, so IDK if just doing the breather will stop the leak. Those outer oil seals are pretty easy to replace. It's been a while since I've done one so I'm not going to give you the step by step. But after you get the little stuff out of the way it's just 4 bolts holding the axle in. Slide it out carefully, put it somewhere where it won't get contaminated with dirt, pry the old seal out and tap the new seal in. I use a Craftsman 2" socket to tap in the new seal. Make sure it goes in even and that it's completely seated...and make sure not to use too much force when tapping or it will bend. Also be careful to not slide the axle on the rubber part of the seal when reinstalling. Those axles also have an inner seal that needs to be pressed on by a machine shop. That's not the seal you need to be concerned about replacing. Just do the outer seal and you'll be all set...provided you did the breather mod first.

Thanks, I did the breather mod & it didn't leak for two weeks & just today I had a few small drips again. It looks like I'll have to do the outer seal.
