One of my rear brake lines ruptured just behind the gas tank. The ends and fittings of both rear brake lines are very rusted and I should probably just replace everything. Should I just go to the dealer and order all the parts or are there after market venders I should consider? This is 2005 4.0 Sport with 265k. The engine runs fantastic but there is a lot of rust underneath, including at least one hole in the frame.

The burst line is the right line in the second picture, just behind the gas tank. The junction that connects that line to the front of the car also looks bad. Is there a reason there are flex lines from the burst line to the axle or can I replace everything with hard lines?

That flex line it was allows the braking system to connect from the body to the axle assembly.
If that was hard-line it'd break as soon as there was any rear suspension movement from when it was installed.
Replace them with Stainless Steel brake lines like the below kit and forget about them.

This includes 6 extended lines for front, body to axle (the line that burst on your truck), and rear brake lines.
If that was hard-line it'd break as soon as there was any rear suspension movement from when it was installed.

Ah. Gotcha. Yeah, that's gonna be a PITA.
If it were me, I'd order those stainless lines above, new OEM brake fluid, and take it to your local independent Toyota specialist to have them do the work. Go ahead and replace all the soft brakes lines with the Goodridge kit while they have it and fill it up with some new fluid too.
I'd even consider replacing the other section of the brake line that runs alongside the burst line while they had it all torn apart.
Use some Stainless hardline or some Nickel-Copper alloy brake lines that will resist rusting and corrosion in the future too.
Not sure. If I were to do it in the driveway, I'd probably drop the tank just to save the headache of trying to snake the lines and work in a tight space.
Maybe someone else has experience with that job and can chime in with advice.

I replaced all the lines on mine with copper nickel line which does not rust and is easily bent & flared. 10MM ends in bulk. I also replaced the rear rubber lines while I was there, they are cheap.
I don't see how you could put a previously bent line over the tank without dropping it but one you are bending is doable. Chances are slim you'll get the old one completely out.

A double flaring tool. You can borrow them from most auto parts stores. As for that coupler, most stores sell them without the bolt bracket but you could make that yourself or just zip tie it in place.
Mind listing the part #s you ordered for anyone that may run into the same issue in the future? Also, did you find out it ruptured while driving or in the driveway?
