Rear Bumper Brackets and Hardware

I'm in the process of replacing the rear bumper of the 4runner (SR5). I came across a ton of rust which resulted in about six stripped bolts. I will mostly have to replace the bracket as well. I briefly looked at prices on eBay and was shocked to see how expensive the parts were.

Where is the best place I can purchase rear bumper brackets(LS, center, and RS) as well as the bolts?

the bolts should be available from any hardware store. I have some brackets i can take a picture of...is this the one bracket for each side, and the 2 for the rear?

I think I have 12 laying around somewhere. Some surface rust but usable from what I recall.

Time to upgrade! :wink2: I patched mine several times and there was no way to get it off without taking EVERYTHING off. When I took it off and FOLDED it and stuck it in the trash, I knew it was time to get a off road bumper. LOL

It really seems like the bumpers are the weak spot on most Toyotas.

[MENTION=28808]psraff[/MENTION] I don't plan on off roading in the 4runner. The off road bumpers would be meaningless. However, once I did remove the old bumper, I noticed all the rust on the frame. And I don't even want to talk about my differential..

I plan on applying por 15 to the frame tomorrow. Will post pictures..

I used Por 15 on some of mine as well. Maybe I didn't prep enough or what, but a lot of it is pealing off. I did the prep (pretty much an acid bath), and applied the Por 15 after washing the acid off. What I didn't do I the Por 15 Top Coat which it states that if it sees UV you should apply it. I think next time I'll do it, I'll apply the Top Coat under the truck as well to see if that helps.

As for the Off Road bumpers... I know what you mean. Some are pretty extreme. Though, there's some that are just a bit more then stock. My sister tried to tell me I didn't need one and just get another stock bumper. But in another 6 years time, it would be in the same condition as the original, so it was time to upgrade for me. But yes, there are some that are plate bumpers and still "sort of" stock.

Check on Rock Auto. I think I ordered 5 and 6 through them for $30 with shipping. Get some bolts from the hardware store to replace those. Same bolt just cheaper.
