right...cuz some of us dont just use our 4runners for offroading or weekend getaways but also because we use it to haul our families to from daily activities and work. the question was asked because i work in a tech company and where i meet with clients on a daily basis so I need to at least not have shit on my pants when i walk into a meeting room. And with 3 car seats in the back from the toddlers, there isn't much room in the back which is why i store stuff in the "cargo" area...
but hey...i guess every helpful forum has to have one dick with no useful input.
From what I've been reading, the only dick in this thread is you. I can't fault anyone else on this thread for making fun of this post. What are you 5 years old? Can't figure out a simple solution for a common problem?

the cargo area is huge with no 3rd row seat or tray. even with car organizers in the back it still slides around. unless you have long arms, there's no way you aren't going to lean against the bumper to get something that might have slid to the back of the second row seat.
its probably a moot point for people who don't have kids or rarely need to throw things in the back but im constantly opening and closing the rear door daily.
Does anyone else have this problem? Of course, you're not that special. You're not the only one who uses the cargo space of your runner. I suspect most people who buy 4Runners kind of considered the cargo space as one of the main reasons for why they bought it. The only reason why no one else has complained about getting dirt on their pants, which happens to everyone else, is either A. It's extremely silly to wonder why you get dirt on your pants when you come in contact with the exterior of your vehicle. or B. It's not that big of a deal, and it's not that hard of a fix.

You really needed to make a thread to discover an extended cargo area cover? I thought you said you worked in tech. Doesn't that require you to be a problem solver? You can't figure out how to avoid getting dirt on your pants when you leaned in?
so what? I did? I'm not ashamed of it. Like I said...I got the answer and solution to my problem plus a lil bit more input to help me understand a couple of things.
I had concerns that maybe other people had the same issue that there might be a possible leak in a hose line for the rear windshield wiper fluid that I couldn't find from just googling alone. Either way, I got what I needed out of it.
If I post a picture of a bolt and ask on this forum where it might have came from and 100 people bash on the post and 1 person gives me the answer I need, then I still get the answer I need to get the job done, right?
People like you remind me of the new hires I get all the time.
They say they are qualified for the job and could do everything, but never ask anything in the first 3 months on the job and their productivity and workflow is crap. When it comes time for the review, they always admit they were too scared to ask questions because they were worried everything might be considered a dumb question.
I'll keep asking whatever questions I want. You can ignore it or answer. Either way, its no sweat off my back as long I get the job done.
And if you really use the way you built it, that means what? You only take it off roading? You don't run errands in it, go to the mall? Use it as a daily driver? Pick up kids? It is SPECIFICALLY only used to go offroading and camping? Gimme a break and get off your high horse.

You can ask all the questions you want. It's a free country. However, if you post an asinine question like this, you should also expect the storm of warranted ridicule that comes with the post. You put yourself out there, you deal with the backlash.
The only person that's on a high horse is you dude. People have offered many solutions, even though they're giving you crap about it. You seem to think that you're somehow special and unique, and shouldn't be subject to ridicule. Then you lash out against other members on completely unrelated issues. But I'm not at all surprised to see this type of behavior from someone that wears light colored skinny jeans.
Glad you found your solution, maybe next time you can do some simple problem solving before posting a stupid question.
For the record, I saw this on overland_meme's IG. had to come check out if it was real. Not only is this real, it's way worse than I was expecting. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised from someone complaining about getting their pants dirty when coming in contact with a dirty surface.
