Rear bumper plate or hybrids

Hey Isaac. If I could do it over, I would have gone with the hybrid if for nothing else then the weight savings. That said I am still in love with the plate style, you couldn't go wrong either way.

Recently life has required me to use my rig as a work truck, having to open the rear 10 times a day got real old real quick so I've removed the swingout for now. I put in some Anderson power pole quick connects for lights so I could have it all mounted back up in 30 minutes. As for my spare, I have a compressor, a repair kit, and a AAA card so I should be good. Here's what she looks like now.

Man! The more I look at CBI products, the more they are starting to grow on me. They have great style, and a great price to boot!
I'm thinking the hybrid is going to be the one I get, with swing out and gas can!
Not to mention they are practically in our own backyard
Now question is WHEN IS THE NEXT GROUP BUY!!
My purchase will be in the next 6 months hopefully.
 
I'd recommend the CBI hybrid also but what I would do differently is pay for a double swing. The single swing arm has a lot of weight on it and also requires a lot of space behind truck to open. Two swings split in middle would be easier on the hinges and cut open clearance in half

Isaac, don't go with the hybrid. You can't have the same one I want. :) lol

But seriously, the hybrid looks the best.

But seriously it is because the measurement was off on the custom side protection tubes I asked to be added as mine was the first hybrid bumper they added this to and the angles are slightly different between the hybrid and the plate bumpers. CBI replaced it and I happened to take the picture while both were on hand. The extra shipped back to them. Talk about superior customer service though, they were awesome throughout.

ive been doing my research and looks like ill be ordering a bumper with my tax return. a lot of guys like dual swing outs for weight and clearance. whats your thoughts on single vs dual?

I think dual means twice the pain in the ass... A swing out already sucks. I hate having to deal with my one latch and swinging it out. I would hate to double the labor every single time...
 
Yes we do build dual swing aways! The cost is more and some people really like them and others don't. If you are really wanting to carry a lot of stuff then they can be very beneficial. Give me a call or shoot me an email and we can go over pricing and options.

Depending on what you are after we may have it in stock. Assuming from your sig you have a 98 4Runner. If thats the case, we have those so we could ship it out ASAP. Unless you want it powder coated then its just a few days for that.

Yeah I'm after a front hybrid bumper but here's the twist, would I be able to have headlight protection on it? Like on the full plate bumper? And yes powder coated.

T4R3 Hybrid Rear Bumper Weight - 100 lbs
T4R3 Plate Rear Bumper Weight - 130 lbs

The factory spare will mount up with the plate bumper but not the hybrid (it will but not very well). The hybrid has the best departure angle of the two. The tubing visually makes this deceiving but for overall off-road clearance it is the best option. The plate isn't too far behind however for clearance.

For most customers it comes down to the look they want. I personally run the hybrid on my 3rd gen and I like it for the weight savings. The other thing I like is that there are back up light mounts between the tubing that accept many different styles of lights. I went with the Rigid SRQ's.

Can anyone who has the CBI Hybrid rear bumper tell me how much the receiver would have to be relocated rearward in order to clear a 33" spare under the truck? I believe someone mentioned that the spare would fit if you deleted the hitch, so I am wondering if rather than deleting the hitch altogether, it could be relocated a few inches farther rearward. I realize the hitch would no longer be flush but that's of minor concern to me.

FYI, the reason I ask the below question is that I want to have CBI put a 2" receiver on a swingout so I can mount my 1UP bike rack and have it swivel away for easy cargo area access. Since I am running relatively small and narrow 33x10.5 tires, it would be great to keep the spare in the stock location but still have a proper hitch in the bumper for towing and for my single motorcycle hitch rack. I also don't like rear-mounted spares anyway, both aesthetically and also because they block visibility. Looking at CBI's stock hitch location, it appears to be nice and flush, and from what others have said here it seems the stock spare almost fits, which makes me wonder if the hitch could be relocated a few inches rearward to fit a 33" spare neatly underneath the truck. If someone can take a measurements for me that would be a huge help! Please let me know.
