It is fairly easy to remove.
Remove the plastic top piece first. Pry it up gently and try not to break the clips.
The bumper has two end chrome pieces and a center chrome piece. End pieces are bolted to truck. I think there are three or four bolts holding each end. The center chrome piece is mounted to two brackets. Each bracket has two bolts that go into the frame.
Once the brackets are free from the vehicle and the chrome ends are unbolted, the entire thing will come away from the vehicle. You should not need to detach the chrome ends from the center piece. It should all come off as a unit.

hey guys need to replace driver side rear bracket, backed into a cement light post a few months back and bent it to hell:sobbing: also replacing driver side rear bumper end and main bumper component. do I need to remove tow package to go about doing this? my friend says yes but i got under the car myself today and that doesn't seem necessary.

Sorry to hear of your slight mishap sir, but you are correct to say that it isn't necessary to remove the tow package in order to undo the bumper pieces..all 3 pieces.

If you're referring to the bumper end pieces, AFAIK they're welded onto the bumper and can't be removed...but don't quote me on it, otherwise can't say I'd done it, can't help you there Chief!

ooh good advice tho! now i kno what to order lol but i meat what holds bumper to body of car lol i will let you kno when i do the install!

From the factory they are just bolted on. (I have done it). You can remove the end pieces first, assuming you can get all the bolts to turn. You cannot remove the center piece first. I had to get the Sawzall to get mine off where the bolt heads snapped off, but I was able to save the brackets. I don't think changing those would be a big deal, as long as the bolts came out ok.
Easiest way is start at one wheel well (there is a bolt that goes through the fender wall) and work your way forward. Two key bolts are at the bottom corners of the hatch opening, under the plastic step cover. Then just do as Brian2Sun says...

thanks man! hopefully i can get the bolts off with a little elbow grease and a cheater bar! gonna order all the parts this weekend and begin the process!

So I guess the main obstacle will be making sure my bolts are pre-soaked in Nut Buster, that I get all the correct socket sizes so I don't strip anything, and to blast the **** out of each bolt with a propane torch. Mine are rusty, of course.
Doing my bumper this week as I spent enough money on the rest of the truck I don't want a rusty bumper ruining my style.
