Rear Bumper Solution

Recently my wife presented me with the unique opportunity of replacing my rear bumped (and tail light). I was disheartened to hear that neither ARB nor Shrockworks offered a bumper solution (although I was told to call Shrockworks back in 3 months). I did identify CBI who by my research is the only source of prefabbed rear bumpers. Before I sink 2k into a bumper, are there any good pics or someone in the southern AZ region will to showoff a CBI bumper? Is there a better option?

Big Country Customs up here in BC have one. I am not sure if it is made to order or ready to ship. In any case, if you don't mind a poossible wait it is an option.

I've started my planning for a rear swing out. Probably going to source someone to build what I invision but, I am drawing inspiration from all areas.

Looking at Nissan Xterra's I often wonder if too many people are over thinking the whole rear bumper idea. Then again, I'm not going for the ability to take a grenade explosion...just swingout and spare holder. Simple and clean!

ags1984, the xterra's are easier since their rear bumper is modular and the center section can be replace rather than the full rear like on the 4Runners.

Have you seen the shrockworks version of xterra's rear bumper? looks eerily familiar with the icon auto rear bumper:

Also, Gabe (java230) and i were toying around the idea of building our own swingouts in the next couple of months. I designed one that was a little overboard but the new design is pretty simple.

Wow, no I had not seen the Shrockworks one. I just did a Google Search for "Xterra Swingout", as you can see I ended up on a Dubai website! I searched this style because of a few local trucks I have see with this design in our area.

How simple are you and Java230 thinking of going? Does it maintain the stock bumper skins for the most part?

The 4R frame is just sitting nicely out the back (under the plastics) on these 4th Gens just screaming for a simple "L" shaped flat steel to be bolted to with accessories off the back. Could even retain the factory hitch!
