Rear Cabin Vents On 2019 4Runner?

So I have a 2018 4Runner and one gripe that I always hear from my wife is that she wishes there were rear cabin vents in the 4Runner like the Highlander.

Anyways, I saw a post on FB once that had pictures of a 2019 4Runner and there appears to be rear cabin vents as well as AC controls in the back, just like how the Highlander comes equipped.

Can someone verify this? Do the 2019 4Runners really have rear cabin vents and controls in the back?

Mine has rear vents in the center console, but no rear controls. TRD Off-Road non-premium. I would also like to add this rig has the strongest A/C of any vehicle I've ever owned. I keep the fan on low with one click above max a/c and that's plenty for 95 degrees outside.

My TRD Off Road Premium does have rear vents in the console but no controls.

My apologies, please let me clarify.

I have rear vents in the center console in my 2018 as well. However, the pictures I saw for the 2019 4Runner Limited had rear controls in the center console with rear vents in the roof liner. The setup was very similar to the Highlander so I wasn't sure if Toyota changed the rear cabin or if those pictures were altered/came from a different vehicle.

it gets so warm in the back seats I just avoid letting anyone stay there during summer

my 6th gen has dual rear climate controls with a touch screen info screen in the rear. It also controls my rear messaging and cooled seats.


Unfortunately, my 5th gen doesn't have any of these functions.

All the 6th gen I have seen had rear massaging and cooled seats...none of them were messaging seats.

Definitely a different vehicle.

If you're seeing the picture with screens on the back of the seats that's a 200-series Land Cruiser, not a 4Runner

Thanks for clarifying. I also stopped by the dealership last week and peeked in a few 2019 4Runners and yep, no rear vents in the headliner.

I do wonder what people with 3rd row seating do. There are zero vents back there.

I had a $1k 1999 Ford Explorer for a bit. It had excellent and simple rear seat hvac control. A simple fan switch that sucked air from the dash to the rear passengers.

I believe the Limited has additional vents for the rear cargo area (3rd row seating). This was the reason I just sold my heavily modified 2017 TRDP - the lack of rear AC. I use my truck for off road fun, and commuting to Tahoe - with my 2 big dogs. Northern CA summer heat can be ridiculous, and after 2 summers, dogs were NOT happy...sold my 4Runner.

Just make sure you want the other bells and whistles that go with the top model.

You wish the 4Runner had more creature comforts? In my opinion, there is nothing more comfortable than driving down the interstate, looking at a more "modern" vehicle broken down on the side of the highway. Whatever broke that modern vehicle is probably a feature your 4Runner doesn't have. Complexity is the enemy of reliability.

My 6 year old rides in the 3rd row. When we need to cool him down, we crank the air to Maximum Attack, open the back window, and in a few minutes he is cool enough. We then close the rear window, reduce the air speed up front, and the 3rd row area stays cool.

In other words, there are ways around the problem. Improvise! Alternatively, use duct tape to keep 3rd row occupants quiet. (Jokes people, don't take me too seriously!)

Simple answer for some of you. Buy a Highlander and some TRD badges and stickers.
