Rear cargo box thread?

What type and thickness of wood did you use? That's exactly the height and design I want to do. Also do you have measurements?

Thanks! Man I've been slacking so bad. This project has been on hold for a long while. It looks pretty much the same as it did before. Don't have the exact measurements. I'd like to make a thread for it when its finished. Maybe I'll take some and post them up. I really need to find some time and motivation to finish it. Here is the sleeping platform part when the seats are removed.

so I need some input.... I'll post something in the woofer gods section about this too but I thought I'd get some of your guy's ideas feedback too. I'm trying to figure out how to relocate my woofer. I want to make it blend in with the back when i build this. I found these box's (i may make my own) but its called a down-firing Sub box, and they like this:

I'll cut a section out of the back cargo box and place it here

I'm not planning on having the full drawers, I'll just make them 24 something inches and have the back section open up with a lid and hinges.

My concern is the Sub box wont really be ported because it will be so close to the cargo box. do you guys think it will mess up the sound quality?

Thanks man, I have used it a ton and it is still holding up really well. Once I get a rear tire carrier i will modify it slightly, but for now it has been a great unit.

Here's mine. Drawers are 10" tall, 19" wide, and 36" long. Padded and carpeted, was gonna put an extension on it for a sleeping platform but then I got the RTT. Attached using factory tie down points, I'll be mounting a fridge freezer and slide to the top down the road. Built using the old closet doors from my bedroom.

man you guys have some pretty cool ideas for these. I went to Home Depot to price some things out. I' for sure get wood there and maybe the sliders but everything else looks like i have to order. My OCD wants to make this looks amazing, So I've making a list of hardware goodies I want to add on to this thing. Should be starting this week! giggity

I posted this in the DYI thread a while back, but . . .

Not real fancy but I wanted secure storage. I found some aluminum boxes at the surplus store (for medical equipment), 19" X 31" X 8" (I believe). I cut the latches off them (hated to cut the latches off such nice boxes, bought 3, kept 1 for the roof). I made a frame from 1/2" angle steel and covered the top with 14 ga steel. The frame has tabs that fit under the cargo mat loops to secure it, with padlocks on the back allowing it to be removed. I'll probably put some carpeted plywood over the top. It's pretty lightweight - it probably weighs less than 40 lbs. with the boxes.

thanks - more of a "hold them from sliding around" system than a locking system (no actual lock ...yet)

My best advice is to use card board cut outs first! Making templates that you can later trace on to your boards is super helpful!
