Rear Cargo Cover Issue

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I used the rear cargo cover. Normally I keep it in the garage and today I went to put it in the back of the 4Runner....I dropped it in to 1 of the brackets and then tried the other and there is about a 1/4 inch gap...the cargo cover is too short to fit and just rests on the outer edge of the bracket. I know that at one time it did fit. Looking at the cargo cover piece itself this thing is solid, there is no chance for expansion or shrinkage. So, I started playing around with the trim panels around where the brackets screw in, pulling them out a little bit but that didn't work. Anyone else ever have this issue, and a way to fix it? I thought about buying some weather stripping or fender stripping and putting the stripping around the edge of the brackets, forcing each one in by an 1/8th of an inch.

This is for a 2001 Limited

I don't think so, I've been trying to find some pics of how one would look to make sure something isn't missing. It fit in there fine until I took it out one day, then when I tried to put it back in I had the gap, just like the original poster described.
