so im finally installing SAW 2.0's soon when they get shipped (courtesy of Medic) and getting rid of the spacers. and now i want to get rid of the rear spacers as well. what would be the best rear coils to run and rear shocks. i dont want to buy the wrong stuff and have to do it over again. so that means no crappy pro comps in the rear. maybe not even bilsteins.

so what would yall say would be the best rear coils and shocks i should get. i tried searching but couldnt find anything. (other then stuff on toytec)

as of now im looking at: (for springs)
toytec super flex
OME
Icon

i know there are more but dont know where i would find them for sale. please help me out. i thought OME only gives 1 to 1.5 inches and the others give 2. which is what i want (or at least i think i want)

and: (for shocks)
bilstein
radflo
icon

i really dont know where to get radflos either.
also where can you get SAW stuff?

and i have seen a few guys running fox shocks... where to get those as well?

help me. and sorry for so many questions. just answer what ya can. thanks

Here's the Radflo. Results for Suspension

Sway-A-Way Sway-A-Way Coilover Shocks from Wheeler's Off-Road

I would get a matching SAW kit if I were you.

holy moly... that radflo kit is expensive

and the SAW rear shocks are pretty harsh too. can you not just buy just the radflo shocks, or just the springs?

i like the SAW coils though. i could have sworn that some company's made rear coils that lift 2" but maybe im wrong.

also are the SAW shocks the cheapest of the high performance or is there another brand that makes high performance 2.0" shocks fro cheaper then 455? thanks for the links

now im looking at the icon and they claim that the rear coils provide 2" of lift. can anyone confirm that the icon rear coils lift 2"? and their rear shocks have a tempting price

with the 3.5'' on the all pro springs im guess if i ran those i would be slanting like a mother.... correct? and are the 2'' all pro springs any good? never heard of em

and for the shocks... those look nice. i would difinately go non resevoir though. ill have to look these up and see if they are any good cause the price of 149 seems too cheap unless thats just for 1 and not a set

thanks for all your help. if someone could chime in with reviews of the icon's, SAW, walker evans or all pro's shocks or springs please do. thanks

They're $149 each. I've read some posts where people have all pro coils and haven't heard any complaints. When I was pm with Medic83 from 120, I was asking possible routes to run 35s on my T4R and he recommended the all pro coils, so I trust his judgement.

I like my Icon coils in the rear. My adjustable fox shocks work awesome, but those are pricey.

Just to warn you, people give the non-resi Icon shocks terrible reviews. I know many guys that have blown out the shocks on longer runs.

okay so maybe icon coils. but what abou those walker evans shocks that were posted above?

jawood. when medic said all pro coils did he mean the 1.5'' or 3.5''? surely not the 3.5" right?

Yeah the 3.5's, I bet they wouldn't give you a full 3.5" lift. Probably around 3"-3.25" or so. When combined with some front coilovers, I guess it would give your 4Runner a slight rake like stock, only 3-4" higher!!

This is what Phil outlined for my quest: 2.5 Coilovers, 2.5 Rear shocks, All Pro 3.5", 1.5" BL, Body Mount Chop, Sway Relocates or remove swaybar, Rear End Links, UCAs or wheel spacers, Trim Everything!!, hammer the welds, diff drop.

AP 3.5" will give you 3.5" of lift in the rear. I'm running them now on the runner and I ran the same set up on the FJ I had. 220 lbs spring rate, 16.5" free coil height. I'm running them to compensate for aftermarket rear bumper weight.

Hmm well there you go... Thats what I would get. But I'm going to have an ARB fridge and CO2 tank in the back, along with some other crap. Eventually rear bumper and tire carrier.

well i dont plan on rear bumper whatsoever...(2wd) and most of the time it will be unloaded. so i guess ill look like this but i might go 295 instead of 315.... is this unloaded pitbull?

same plan for me minus diff drop hehe and im goin to run 2.0'' shocks and coils for money savings. ill start with 295's though and if i wanna go bigger i might get a 1.5'' bl but if i like the 295's ill go 1'' bl and keep same size tire.

That is unloaded and I lifted the front a little too. I can dig up some FJ pics to see what its like loaded down. IMO, the 3.5" is too high without any weight. You'd have to go pretty high in the front to even out, past your CVs limits and also the coilovers limits. You'll need a diff drop wich will reduce your clearance assuming you crank the front coilovers to even out. I'd look at Toytecs Superflex coils, they lift more than Icons, but not as high as AP 3.5" from what I've seen firsthand.

i was looking at toytec's and now that you say they lift higher then icons i think those are the ones i want and they are cheaper.

as for shocks now. icon, walker evans? those are prob the two im between and a set of icons is 220 and a set of walker evans is 300. a lil bit pricey but if someone can convince me i might get em. also any other suggestions would be awesome. i want a 2.0'' rear shock set up. thanks

okay i dont think you know but i am 2wd so i dont need diff drop and all that non sense. haha. but i think i have found a way to get it level in the front with the all pro rear 3.5'' coils.

check it out. if im correct this 1 1/8'' spacer from wheelers off road. it says this "A polyurethane spacer pair for your front suspension. Goes on top of your strut plate. Provides approx 1.25"-1.5" lift. Requires longer stud set shown below" and the longer stud set is only 15 dollars and the top spacer pair is only 24.95.

http://www.wheelersoffroad.com/03up4runnersuspmisc.htm

concluding..... medic is having my coilovers cranked all the way to 3.25'' of lift plus say 1.25-1.5'' ill get 4.5-4.75'' up front with 3.5'' in the rear with the all pro coils.

CAN this WORK!!!!! if it can 35's will bolt on nicely with minimal trimming.

Here is his post from the thread...

I'm going to recant my post. Currently I'm running TC 3.5 lift spindles with Fox 2.5 remote resi coilovers and Camburg UCAs for the front suspension. Been hearing a loud banging noise coming from the front as well as the feeling of a wheel coming off the ground when I make turns that are off camber at intersections. So I stopped by DMZ Fab and race prep to talk to Tim again about other stuff. I brought up the issues I am having, so he gave me crap for a few minutes because of other stuff before taking a look at my setup.

Tim pulled out a jack to check my travel and droop. Turns out my suspension is maxed out with not enough droop to handle speed bumps, humps or serious off camber driveways or intersections. Basically FJ COs are not ment for 4runners since they are of different lengths and use firmer spring rates. So in short I am maxing out the travel which puts a ton of stress on the bolt that secures the UCA and spindle. Continued use would result in failure of the bolt. My truck is going in to DMZ to have the COs reconstructed to permit me to reduce preload to lower the ride height so I stay within the suspension cycle without hitting the limits. Tim will also be installing limiting straps on the front to limit max travel.

For the rear I have 3.5 lift walker Evans coils, daystar 1.5 spacer and 10 inch travel Fox 2.0 remote resi shocks. Again down travel is almost at its max. Same activity as the front. Panhard bar is stressed and rear shocks are almost too short, not to mention the rear axle is pulled to the passenger side by about an inch. The ride is stiff and squirrelly when driving on rough poorly maintained roads as well as on the freeway. Removing the 1.5 inch spacer will fix this issue.

3 inches of lift with spacers or COs is the max the OEM suspension travel can handle before balljoints or unball bolts become the stressed weak link that could fail with prolonged use. For the rear 3.5 inches of lift is the max before you start to stress the drive shaft universal joint and flange bolts, as well as the panhard bar from excessive force and improper driveline angles.

ah yea i just read that from his thread... scratch that... im going with toytec super flex. and possibly walker evans but maybe icons.
